Noida, Oct 21: Home water purifier manufacturer KENT has expanded into the power and energy storage sector with the launch of its new division, KENT New Energy, introducing lithium batteries, solar hybrid inverters and smart power backup solutions.

The company has invested approximately Rs 250 crore in a manufacturing facility in Sector 159, Noida, as it looks to tap into the growing demand for rooftop solar systems and energy storage solutions in India.

KENT has introduced lithium batteries with capacities of 5.1 kWh, 11.8 kWh and 16 kWh for solar energy storage. According to the company, the batteries can withstand more than 6,000 charging cycles and come with a 10-year warranty. The company has also launched solar hybrid inverters ranging from 3 kW to 15 kW, designed to manage power from solar panels, batteries and the electricity grid.

For household inverters and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, KENT has introduced 12-volt and 24-volt lithium batteries with prices starting at Rs 22,000. The company claims these batteries could help users save between Rs 30,000 and Rs 1 lakh over 10 years compared with conventional lead-acid batteries, although actual savings will depend on usage and maintenance costs.

The company has also launched an all-in-one inverter that integrates the inverter and battery into a single unit. Users will be able to monitor battery health and electricity consumption through a mobile application.

KENT Chairman and Managing Director Mahesh Gupta said the company's solar hybrid inverter could operate three air conditioners simultaneously, in addition to other household appliances. He highlighted the 10-year warranty offered on the product and said making the solutions competitively priced would be important in a market with lower-cost alternatives.

Gupta also pointed to the potential of solar-powered inverters in rural areas that experience frequent power cuts, particularly at night. He said the company's move into the energy sector was inspired by the growing emphasis on green energy and solar power.

The six-acre manufacturing facility in Noida currently has an annual production capacity of 3.5 GWh, which the company plans to increase to 10 GWh within the next six months.

KENT plans to distribute its new products through its existing dealer network, retail outlets and online platforms. The expansion marks a move beyond its established water and air purification businesses into home energy management and backup power solutions.
