Dubai-based talent Diksha Raj presented Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha at Chennai

Dubai, Aug 10: Diksha Raj, student of Class 10, disciple of Guru Vidushi Sapna Kiran, director of Sankeerna School of Dance in the city, achieved an important milestone at the Sivagami Petachi auditorium in Chennai on August 4.

The evening sparkled with the presence of distinguished guests, Maha Guru Savita Arun, director, Aruna Kalavidaru; Radhika Vairavelavan, director, Chatur Lakshana Academy of Fine arts, Chennai and Balasubramanian, founder, Nada Sudha, secretary, Brahma Gana Sabha.

The audience was treated to a traditional Bharathanatyam Margam, supported by a stellar musical ensemble. Led by Guru Sapna on the Nattuvagam, Bhuvana on vocals, Dhanamjayan on Mridangam, Dr Vijayraghavan on violin and J B Shruthi Sagar on flute. Guru, guests and orchestra were felicitated by Diksha’s grandparents and parents.



The evening was superbly anchored by Sruti Karthik, while her friends Prapti and Yashvi, both students of Sankeerna, introduced each dance item. The vote of thanks was delivered by Diksha’s mother Priya.

Diksha commenced with a Pushpanjali, Ganesh Stuti and Alarrippu. This was followed by Jathiswaram, Shabdam and Navaraga Varnam. A Shiva Navarasa Padam, Saraswathi Kirti and Thillana capped off with a feisty Kurathi dance, completed the evening.
