New Delhi, Jun 21: A vessel named Deva Matha 2 which set sail from Munambam in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on January 12 is reported missing. It is reported that this vessel has 243 passengers on board.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar confirmed that several countries in the Pacific Ocean Region have been sensitized about the missing vessel. However, no inputs have been received yet from those countries, Kumar tweeted.

Raveesh Kumar

"When it sailed, we were informed by the state government that there are people on board and they were headed towards a specific destination in the Pacific Ocean and our responsibility was to sensitise the countries in that region. Tell them what we know and also seek inputs from them just in case they come across this vessel," Kumar had earlier told media.

Meanwhile, family members of the missing passengers have sent a joint memorandum to MEA as well as approached several authorities.

MEA will continue to follow up on this matter, Kumar assured in his tweet.
