Udupi, May 19: The district Congress Committee staged protest at Congress Bhavan Brahmagiri here on Saturday, May 18, against BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s tweet supporting killer of Nathuram Godse.

Addressing the protestors, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, district Congress said, “Congress is non-violent party. BJP is doing low level politics today. BJP seems nowhere equal to Gandhiji’s personality to compare. It is glorifying Nathuram Goodse, killer of Gandhiji. It shows that Nalin Kumar had no sense. He was out of his mind while he was posting the controversial tweet. If the same thing is repeated, Congress will hold massive protest.”

M A Gafoor, chairman, Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation said, “BJP leader Nalin Kumar Kateel insulted Gandhiji and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Even Sadhvi Pragya did the same. Union Minister Anath Kumar Hegde also insulted the Father of our Nation. Even after these controversial statements made by BJP leaders. The prime minister has kept quiet. He is not questioning anyone nor taking any disciplinary action against them. It means the PM is supporting these leaders. They have been insulting great leaders those who sacrificed their lives to this nation. Democracy has lost its existence in the country. Such a situation has been created in the country.

“But people will not stand with this system. Leaders who spoke such rubbish, deserved to be punished. NDA government is creating anti-social feelings in the minds of people. Let the Modi led government, punish or expel such leaders from the party,” he said.

Prakhyath Shetty, vice president of DCC, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, general secretary, Ismail Athrady, Roshini Olivera, Veronica Cornolio, Shashidhar shetty of Kisan Sangha, Bhaskar Rao Kediyur, Yathish Karkera, Janardhan Bhandarkar and others were present.
