Karkala, Jul 17: Shivaprasad Rao of Nandalike, a Revenue Inspector attached to the Karkala taluk office, succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident near Shivatikere on Sunday night, police said.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 7.30 pm on Sunday when Shivaprasad Rao was returning home to Nandalike on his scooter after leaving Karkala. Near a petrol bunk at Shivatikere, he reportedly indicated and attempted to take a U-turn when a speeding motorcycle coming from behind rammed into his scooter.

The impact of the collision left Shivaprasad Rao critically injured. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.

Shivaprasad Rao was known as a dedicated officer in the Revenue Department. His untimely demise has evoked grief among colleagues at the Karkala taluk office and local residents.
