Raichur, May 12: Gulbarga University has been in the news for brazen irregularities in the conduct of examinations in the past. As per media reports, it has transpired that students have now answered their question papers by sitting in the cosy environs of home.

Degree examinations of the university began on May 8. A Kannada news channel has reported that students have been appearing for examinations by remaining inside their homes. The staff appointed to supervise the proper conduct of examination in exam halls have been allegedly extending support to these irregularities.

After getting information that the students are appearing for the degree examinations of the university from their homes, officials of the examination vigilance squad raided a rented house at IDS MT extension in the city and unearthed the blatant irregularities. Police personnel of Sadar Bazar station too visited the spot and undertook scrutiny.

The BCom second semester economics and English examinations were under way. Over 20 students from different colleges were caught red-handed when indulging in wrongdoing. Most of the students who are appearing for the examination are from Vivekananda B Ed college. The students were allotted some other examination centres, but they were found appearing for the examination from somewhere else. The vigilance officials said that they raided the spot based on reliable information, but expressed ignorance about the people behind this racket. They said they have taken into possession answer sheets, hall tickets etc and that the issue would be investigated in-depth.
