Kaup: Lorry tumbles at Katapadi - driver dies,conductor injured

Kaup, A pr 17: After the driver of a lorry loaded with coal lost control over the vehicle, the vehicle fell by is side on the national highway at Katapadi. In this incident, which happened near the Katapadi forest gate on the night of Monday April 15, the driver breathed his last on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Wayeed Davul Sab Gori (46), resident of Chikkodi taluk in Belagavi district. Conductor, Moni Muneer Gori (18), suffered injuries.

The lorry which was loaded with coal at Bykampady was moving towards Koppal. It is said that the driver, who was recklessly driving the lorry towards Koppal, suddenly applied brakes at the Katapadi forest gate. The lorry then went out of its driver's control and tumbled down. The driver suffered grave injuries. The locals carried him to Udupi district hospital but the doctors found that he had alreay breathed his last. The conductor was admitted as an inpatient.

A case stands registered in the police staiton here relating to this incident.
