Speaking to Daijiworld media correspondent Abhijeeth, Kulal says, “Homewise Interiors deal with various brands of kitchen appliances required for modular kitchens. If you take chimneys, they play an important role in a kitchen, it flushes out kitchen smoke, thus it helps a odour free kitchen and reduces the risk of clogging of oil residue on expensive interiors slowly down the years. Although it sucks 40 -80 percent of smoke coming out of cookery, it is better to have a suitable chimney in kitchen.”
“Chimney sizes are available from 60 cm to 120 cm in different brands. 90 cm chimneys are fast moving product and generally ideal for the Indian kitchens. There are various types of chimneys like cone shape chimneys, straight glass, bend glass, inclined chimney and island chimneys. Chimneys come with different types of filters such as baffle filters, cassette (aluminium mesh) filters, filter less and fixed filters with oil collectors. Different suction types are normal straight suction, centrifugal suction, peripheral suction and 3D suction. To install chimneys, for ducting pipes, one requires 4 to 6 inches hole to be made at site depending on models. Even though ducting less carbon filter models are available, it is not so effective for Indian style of cooking. Accessories required for installation of chimneys like ducting pipe and vent cowl are also available with the firm,” says Kulal.
When it comes to hobs, there are 3 types of burners such as Italian burner hobs, alloy burners, and brass burner hobs ranging from single burner hob up to 5 burner hobs. “Indian style of cooking requires more cooking time and flame intensity compared to western cooking. Hence, brass burners are making a key point in selling hobs. There are variants in burners such as small - medium and triple ring burners. Hob sizes are available from 30 cm to 100 cm and the most selling hobs are the sizes of 75-80 cm. Glass hobs and steel hobs are available with battery and electrical ignition variants. Built-in microwave ovens or electric ovens, customers can opt for convection, grill ovens, rotisserie options in ovens. Ovens with analog operating, semi and fully digital operating system are also available. Brands like Bosch have 3 or 4 dimensional hot air technologies so that mechanical rotisserie is not required in them. The number of pre-programmed cooking functions varies from model to model,” he says.
Steam oven (can cook more than 50 idlis within 12 minutes!) and combi oven (microwave and electrical oven in a single machine) models are also available from different brands.
Cooking ranges consists electrical/gas ovens below and built in hobs at the top in a single appliance with available sizes from 50cm to 90 cm. People generally go for cooking range because it has gas oven in it. But some brands have got built in gas oven, so that one has the freedom of choosing their choice of hobs separately.
In dishwashers, free standing, semi integrated and fully integrated built-in dishwashers are available. There are other products like built-in refrigerators, built-in induction hob, built in deep fryers, built in barbeque grills, built in teppanyaki hobs, built in ceramic hob, built in electrical hob, built in flex induction and induction hobs and built in warmers are also available.
