Bengaluru: PU lecturers to boycott evaluation if demands are not met

Bengaluru, Mar 13: The dispute between Karnataka pre-university (PU) department and PU lecturers has reached its peak. The association of lecturers has decided to remain absent for answer paper valuations.

The decision was taken in a state level meeting of lecturers held in Bengaluru on Tuesday, March 12. “Mandatory 60 days holidays should be given as per KCSR. Non availability of leave during those days is mental cruelty. An appeal is sent to the chief minister about it thrice. But there was no response,” they said expressing their dissatisfaction.

Association president Thimmayya Purle warned of indefinite strike at Freedom Park, Bengaluru on March 21 if their demands are not met by March 20.

“We have not protested since 2016 or boycotted valuations. We waited from 2016 until now. The protests are inevitable if the government does not respond properly,” he said.

They have submitted a list of 18 demands.

Second PUC examinations have started from March 1. Those will be over on March 18. Disputes have cropped up even before the examinations got over.

The students waiting for examinations will be badly affected between the tussle. Delay in announcements of PU examination results affects further studies of students.

Around 6.73 lac students have appeared for PU exams this year. Evaluation of papers should begin on March 21.

    Teachers are the nation builders. Unfortunately government is not much bothered about them, since their strike will not have much effect on them.
    Teachers should boycott election duty also. Why can not government engage bank employees, insurance office persons , who generally enjoy office hours chit-chatting,gossiping and enjoying our hard earned money? Why do they get LTC , low interest loan at the expense of common man?
    Why can not government provide free education to siblings of teachers?
    Teachers strike is justified!!

    Dear Lecturer.
    You are getting more than you deserve, dont mistake me, you work only for 3-4 hours a day. and about 7 months a year and you count around 30,000 /month. govt lecturers also get for vacation. and also you count for valuation. think about your qualification. now a days degree and PG is not a big achievement. If you see really see outside. others degree holders who are working in private firms, who work for 8 hours a day & almost full year get only 12,000-14000.. please think once... you are getting more wage than you work

    Pls arrest these lecturers association office bearers first so also agitating lecturers.EVERY YEAR THEY BLACK MAIL during the answer paper correction time .at the cost of students. They think that by doing this they achieve their goal.Govt should not budge this sort of black mail.
    If they have grience let them do it during summer holidays. Each lecturer minting money by giving tutions or not attending class properly..

    Till 10th private schools normally loot the educational fees many of the parents trapped in such situation to support their children education..

    But to be clever enough till 10th can study government or any less fees school and target PUC marks card. Whole future depend upon PUC marks card. But I wonder nowadays again why politics involved PUC level aslo.

    Every year this happens. Govt should put these lectures to other departments for work in holidays. They hardly work for 180 days, get full salary and are always striking at wrong time. If they want to protest let them do it any other time other than exam time.
