Puttur: Bus-car collision at Shiradi Ghat - four killed, two seriously injured

Puttur, Mar 10: In a tragic accident that occurred on the early morning of Sunday, March 10 at Shiradi Ghat on the highway between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, four people died on the spot and two suffered serious injuries.

The accident occurred when a KSRTC bus that was plying from Dharmasthala to Bengaluru collided with a Swift Desire car head-on at Shiradi Ghat under the limits of Sakleshpur police station.

Four people, including a six-year-old child, lost their lives on the spot in the ghastly accident. Two women who suffered injuries are said to be critical.

As mobile connectivity is not available on the ghat, local people had to put in great effort to save the lives of the people involved in the accident.

Police visited the spot and investigated further.

    We were driving back and witnessed this unfortunate accident just few minutes after it happened.
    It ws terrible sight to see bodies lying scattered on the road. Biggest problem was NO CONNECTIVITY... Govt should make sure that they atleast provide SOS facility in highway and ghats. This will help to aave more lives.. 😢😢

    It is sad to note that accidents of this nature are on the increase. Four more lives are lost. The Police will investigate and get at the root of the cause of the accident. THE RULE SHOULD BE DRIVE SAFE - DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY - SAVE LIVES.

    I have seen a lot of accidents on the highways because of many reasons. One of the is many light vehicle driver a don't know the difference between highway and city driving.

    On the highways it is extremely important to drive in your lane and maintain a distance. A few drivers don't even open their side mirrors. They drive like they are race horses.

    But again the KSRTC red buses are killers. The way they drive is nothing but horrifically dangerous.

    Four lives lost, God knows whose fault. But they are gone. A huge void in their families. But accidents will keep happening, lives will still be lost and no one will still be bothered. Because we will still be the same. Rules will still be broken.

    Ya ..they know pretty well that they are most likely to not lose their life or get injured if involved in a accident with a smaller vehicle. That's the reason they drive acquiring almost 90% of the road width.

    Rest in Peace. Those who died in the collision. The cause of any accident is lack of coordination /communication between two drivers. (obviously over speed is the main reason and above 60kmph our reflexes become slower to manipulate emergency situations. Better late than never.

    It is sad and an unfortunate accident involving a car and a KSRTC bus which killed four people and seriously injuring two. I can only pray that the soul of the deceased persons will RIP and wish a speedy recovery of the injured persons. SPEEEDING KILLS.

    From the picture, it is clearly the fault of the car driver. Easy to blame others. The car driver had banged the bus on the right side near the Drivers seat at 90 degree. Driving on the ghats require lot of experience. Any mistake, it is total fatality. RIP those who have died.
