Bantwal: Ramanath Rai trying hard to secure Congress Lok Sabha ticket

Bantwal, Feb 22: Even as Lok Sabha election is drawing nearer, hectic activities are being witnessed in the camps of certain political leaders who are determined to get party ticket.

There is a long list of aspirants for Dakshina Kannada parliamentary ticket from the Congress and former state minister, B Ramanath Rai, has intensified his efforts to get party's nod for fighting the Lok Sabha election with party ticket from Dakshina Kannada constituency.

Those who are interested to enter the election fray from this seat are former union minister, B Janardhan Poojary, Rajya Sabha member,B K Hariprasad, former MP, Vinay Kumar Sorake, U K Konu, MLC, Ivan D'Souza, and district youth Congress president, Mithun Rai. Some of them including Janardhan Poojary have already publicly expressed their readiness to fight the election.

Ramanath Rai met All India Congress Committee general secretary, Oscar Fernandes on Tuesday evening at Circuit House Mangaluru. It is gathered that he discussed with Oscar issues like recent political developments in the district, party's organizational needs, and the fact that he is interested to fight Lok Sabha election.

A few days back, he had meet Dr Veerappa Moily,when the latter was proceeding to Dharmasthala, and held discussions with him.
