Mangaluru: Prof Prakash P Karat Endowment Lecture - 2019 held at SAC

Mangaluru, Feb 18: Prof Prakash P Karat Endowment Lecture - 2019 was held on Saturday, February 16 at 2.30 pm at “Sanidhya Hall”, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru.

Prof P S Anil Kumar, professor, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru delivered the lecture on the topic “Introduction to Spintronics”.

In his lecture he discussed how the techniques in the field of spintronics helped to increase the storage capacity of hard discs in computers and also future possibilities. He stressed the need of basic science research and how it will enhance the living conditions of human being.



Dr Chandrashekhar Shetty, former registrar (Evaluation) Mangaluru University, chaired the lecture. Fr Pradeep Anthony SJ, director of Arruppe Block, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru and Prof Prakash P Karat, Professor, Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Physics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru are the guests of honour.

Prof Lawrence Pinto welcomed the gathering. Dr Chandra Shekhara Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Professors, teachers and students from various colleges were present for the lecture.

The endowment lecture is organised by his students and admirers in association with the department of Physics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru.
