Mangaluru, Jul 25: The AICTE IDEA Lab in association with the departments of ECE and CSE at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor organized a three-day hands-on workshop on ‘Internet of Things’ for the students of the postgraduate department of Big Data Analytics from St Agnes College (Autonomous), between July 22 and 24.

The convener of the workshop was Dr Vijay V S, assistant professor from the department of mechanical engineering and the coordinators were Supriya Salian, assistant professor, department of CSE and Madhavi Gatty, assistant professor of ECE. The students of 1st year and 2nd year MSc Big Data Analytics actively participated in the workshop.

The workshop introduced the students to Internet of Things, with hands-on exercises in Arduino IDE, Node MCU, Raspberry Pi and Adafruit. Theexercises enabled students to work with humidity and temperature sensors and ultrasonic sensors to detect objects and create LED warning systems.

The workshop included sessions on project ideation and development, where participants formed teams and created innovative IoT-based prototypes. The workshop concluded with the evaluation of the prototypes and the top two teams were recognized and awarded prizes.
