Mangaluru: Youngsters accompanied by girl visit hookah joint, police defuse situation

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 20: Four youngsters including a girl had arrived at a hotel at Kuthar Madani Nagar, Ullal on Saturday. Sensing that the incident might get communal overtones, the police intervened, questioned the group, and let them go.

A Hindu girl and three Muslim youth, said to be the students of an engineering college here, had reportedly visited a hotel. Activists of a Hindu organisation alerted the police about the movement of this group, and that they were on a visit to the hotel in question for hookah smoking. Police personnel of Ullal station immediately arrived at the hotel and questioned the students before letting them go. This act eased the situation and stopped it from developing into a communal conflict.

Activists of some organizations had gathered at the spot. As per information, the police had in the past, served notice to this particular hotel once, asking the management to stop the hookah smoking facility. This time again the police have warned the hotel management, it is gathered.

How come the hotel is still ha I g the hookka? If the police have warned them to close it how they can still operate? Looks something fishy. Who is the owner of the hotel and how come he disobey the police warning. Even now why police allow him to operate the hotel?

From my point of view, such people, either girls or boys from either communities should avoid such places. They all have a choice. Even, police are helpless in such situation where you might get into. My hats off to the police who took action at the right time.

Yet again, communalism won over personal choice. I am appalled that some are patting the police's back for a job well done, but why would 4 adults need any intervention from anyone; be it police or any other organization. Who is anyone to decide whether a Muslim boy can befriend/romance a Hindu girl or a Hindu boy can befriend/romance a Muslim girl? Dear Mangalore, let people be!

In nearby locality a husband and wife were assaulted by religious mob no reason! You so called ultra religious guys talking abt personal choice is laughble. If it was 3 hindu boys with a classmate musilm girl sitting in a canteen drinking tea, some of your blood brothers will be seething in rage! Secularism is a one way street with ultrareligious ppl

@Mohammed J.Abudhabi, cool down .Police just intervened before the situation gets heated and any further problems arises.Nothing happened now.First ask thes e boys why should they bring a hindu girl with them for a hooka party, knowing well how can such a situation can go out of control.could bring a boy with them. One should avoid heating problems or subjects at present in karnataka.best for everyone before a dead body flys in front of you.
