Mangaluru, Feb 9: Home minister M B Patil inaugurated three-day ‘Beary Mela’, organized by Beary Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here at Town Hall on Friday, February 8.

Addressing the gathering, M B Patil said, "We have witnessed communal clashes in our society due to one percent of the people, while remaining 99 percent people prefer to live in peace and harmony. We need to find such miscreants and punish them to make our society a peaceful one,”



“Miscreants do not belong to any one particular religion. In every community there are few people who destroy communal peace in the society. Present coalition government will deal with those anti-social elements that incite violence in society. We will always support and join hands in maintaining peace and harmony in the society,” he added.

M B Patil also assured of setting up a fire station at Mudipu and said that concrete measures will be taken at the earliest in this regard.

District in-charge minister U T Khader released the souvenir and chancellor of Yenepoya University Y Abdulla Kunhi inaugurated the exhibition.

The purpose of the Mela is to create awareness on Beary culture and their contribution to business and to promote entrepreneurship. There are many stalls for business to customers and also food courts. Seminars, networking and cultural programmes will be held as a part of the Mela.

On February 9, a day with successful businessmen will be organized at 10.30 am. There will be a ‘Bearys Got Talent’ programme from 4.30 pm to 7 pm.

B Ahmed Haji Mohiyuddin, B A Group chairman, will be conferred the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion. Dr M Abdul Rahman, former vice chancellor of Calicut and Kannur Universities will be conferred the BCCI Academic Excellence Award. Sheik Karnire, director of Expertise Group, will be presented the BCCI NRI Business Excellence Award. A K Ahmed, A K Group of Companies founder will be presented BCCI Business Excellence Award.

    Nice initiative and very good beginning...Kudla is nothing but confluence of many languages and cultures...kannada, Konkani, tulu, beary ...all of them should live in peace and harmony so that coastal KN regains its past glory...
