Kasargod: Armed naxals visit Valakunja, collect rice, vegetables

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Jan 17: Jaison Joseph (55), a rubber tapping worker residing at Valakunja near Pallathadka, has informed Badiyadka police that a gang of naxals with women holding guns had visited his house. He also claimed that the gang collected rice and vegetables from his home.

Jaison called Badiyadka police over phone on January 15 and said that naxals had visited his house. The police had not taken his statement seriously then. In the evening, he again called to say that two women holding guns visited his house and collected rice and vegetables. Thereafter the police visited the spot and put information together with the help of local people.

However, the police personnel could not find any signs of naxal visit. Jaison's wife also dismissed the statement of her husband and insisted that no such incident had happened.

The place which is claimed to have been visited by the naxals is not inside the forest. As the density of population there is considerable, chances of visit by naxals there is remote. The police therefore are suspecting the truth behind Jaison's claim. They have said that if they find that Jaison had tried to purposefully mislead them by furnishing wrong information, action would be initiated against him.
