Jaitley: Rahul trying to bring ‘immoral equivalence’ between Rafale, Bofors

New Delhi, Dec 16(NIE): The political slugfest over the Rafale deal escalated on Sunday, with Union Minister Arun Jaitley claiming that “every word said against the government has proved to be false” and “every fact stated by vested interests against the deal proved to be manufactured”.

Hitting out at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and the opposition’s “desperate attempts” to box in the government over the fighter jet deal, Jaitley said the Supreme Court’s recent ruling proved that “procedural compliances have been done in the Rafale deal and the charges on the same are misconceived”.

The Supreme Court had dismissed the opposition’s plea for a court-monitored probe into the purchase of the 36 jet aircraft.

“As a political opponent, Rahul Gandhi’s opposition to the deal was a desperate attempt. It was the UPA Government which had shortlisted the Rafale. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA), struck a deal with the French government to further improve the terms and conditions, including the prices,” Jaitley said in a Facebook post.

Continuing its tirade on the Congress chief, Jaitley alleged that Rahul’s opposition to the deal stemmed from his mere intolerance to the fact that PM Modi had successfully managed to run a corruption-free government.

“Rahul’s opposition was obviously for reasons, including his intolerance to the fact that PM Modi has run the cleanest-ever government in recent Indian history. It is a scam-free government where middlemen and scamsters had to take refuge outside the country,” he said.

Claiming that Rahul was carrying the load of a “stigmatised legacy which was tainted by Bofors”, Jaitley said, “He (Rahul) was desperately trying to bring an ‘immoral equivalence’ between Rafale and Bofors. But Rafale did not have middlemen, no kickbacks and obviously no Ottavio Quattrocchi.”

“Thirdly, with international cooperation and governmental cooperation, scamsters of the UPA Government are now being extradited into India. There is obviously a scare of who will talk how much and Rahul Gandhi got instant support from the “career nationalists” of Lutyens Delhi,” the Finance Minister added.

Earlier in the day, Congress leader Anand Sharma had urged the top court to recall its Rafale judgment and issue contempt of court and perjury notices to the government, alleging the Centre had provided false information to the apex court. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, the Congress leader said: “They should seek penance and take a dip in the holy Ganges instead”.

The Centre on Saturday had approached the apex court seeking “correction” in its judgment that a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the pricing of the fighter jets “has been” examined by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Opposition leaders said there was no CAG report yet on the deal and alleged that the government had misled the court by presenting wrong facts.

    Arun :

Ask your senior partners Modi and Shah to institute Joint Parliamentary Probe into the questionable Rafael-Deal particularly on specifics of pricing, Ambani partnership as firmly recommended by Indian Government as openly disclosed by former French Precident who was a party to the deal along with Modi.

When you come out clean you have nothing to worry!!

No more questions, justifications or clarifications, okay??

    Yes, Jaitley is Right!
It is Immoral to compare both as it was proved a dud missile of V P Singh to capture power, later he himself said it was a weapon he used to dethrone Rajiv & he was in no way involved in it.
Bofors was estimated to be of a 64 crore pay off in a deal of 1437 crores,
Rafale is nearly 1600 crores in single fighter jet, multiply that into 36 you will get the figure,
yes bot are never comparable as a mole hill V/s Mount Everest.
Jaitley Modi is providing Clean governance, Ok, now agree for JPC probe why you people are running away? What is there to hide? Why Chowkidhaar is afraid to face Press regarding this deal or even about his governance?
How Dasault came to know a 10 day old company?
Why a bankrupt person with no land or factory got the deal over a 70 year old company?
Why Make In India was shelved for 108 aircraft?
Why millions of people lost job opportunity while no government guarantee was given up for this deal?
Why offset partner is pocketing 30000 crores which can't be compared to 64 crore presumed loss to exchequer?
Jaitley shed more light on the above before accusing Rahul or Rajiv, until then we assume Chowkidhaar hi.......c..........hey!

The moment one hears about Bofors, it reminds most people about the Bofors scam that had rattled the political history in 1980s and gave it a new turn.

But the same controversial Bofors howitzers will, one day, chart a new chapter by strengthening the Indian Army during the 199 Kargil war and will lead to its victory by giving it "an edge", nobody could have imagined it.

During India-Pakistan Kargil conflict, when the Indian army was going through a tough phase, then the Sweden-made Bofors weapons came to the rescue of the Indian soldiers.

During the Kargil war, the intruders were hiding so cleverly that the Indian army soldiers had no idea from where were they attacking. The Bofors guns played a critical role in India’s victory in the Kargil battle and the 1971 war was won because of the immaculate planning by the Air Force in coordination with the ground forces, war veterans said today.

But in the case of 'Rafale', the BJP has ordered the single-engine aircraft against the UPA II orders of 126 thrice the price. At the same time Qatar, Egypt has brought the same aircraft with more superior technology slightly more than the UPA orders. Moreover, offset contract more than Rs30,000 crores given to a non-existing company to save Ambani from bankrupt.

If Congress can share the price of 'Bofors' which gave victory to India, they BJP which worship 'Bharat Mata' hesitant to disclose it to the nation?

The BJP 'Namo' sight is selling merchandise to help fund PM Modi for 2019 elections. Why does nation need to pay more for less number of aircraft with the same technology which UPA has finalized?

Sorry spinner Jaitley, Your googlies are being thrashed these days. First explain why you and your government of which you are a prominent part lie to the Supreme Court. Did you think that your lies would not be caught? Giving false information to the supreme court proves without doubt that there is something fishy with the Rafale deal. Your chamchas say that the CEO of Rafale has given clean chit to the government. What about the former President of France? Is he lying then?
