Doha: ACC emerge champion in Div 1 of Zaffran cricket tournament

Doha, Dec 4: Asian Cricket Club (ACC) defeated M Pallonji in a low scoring thrilling finals to clinch the Division-1 title of the 1st Zaffran Cricket tournament 2018 organized by the Qatar Veterans League at the Losail Cricket Complex.

Winning the toss, ACC put in M Pallonji to bat. M Pallonji openers, gave a confident start. They scored 40 runs losing 1 wicket in the first 6 overs. There after ACC bowlers restricted M Pallonji batsmen with some splendid bowling. M Pallonji were all out for 123 runs in 19 overs. Ayub (29 runs), Fajeev (24 runs) made useful contributions.



For ACC Prasanth took 4 wicket off 18 runs, Appu took 2 wickets giving 18 runs, Mannu took 2 wickets for 18 runs. Adnan and Sarfaraz took one wicket each.

In reply, ACC openers gave a confident start and scored 40 runs for 1 wicket in first six power play overs. After 14 overs, ACC were comfortably cruising at 99 runs for 3 wickets. Thereafter intelligent bowling and good fielding got M Pallonji 7 quick wickets leaving ACC at 123 runs in 19.4 overs. Firoz hit the winning boundary for ACC and helped his team to lift the Division-I Trophy.

For his splendid bowling performance, Prasanth of ACC was adjusted as Man of the Finals.

At the prize distribution ceremony the chief guest Siddiq Fahad, business development manager of Zaffran Café distributed the winners, runners-up trophies and over 300 prizes.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for all spectators.
