Dammam: MASA celebrates 11th Talents Day in grandeur

Dammam, Oct 19: Fanfare, talent, melody, amusement, all bundled into a showcase was witnessed on October 13 at the Crystal Hall, Dammam when MASA (Mangalore Association Saudi Arabia) held their annual 11th Talents Day. Young and old enthusiastically participated in various activities such as dance, fancy dress and singing.

There were more than 80 contestants from different age groups who shared stage with their colorful performances to entertain the large holiday crowd. Many children trained by professional choreographers back home during their summer holidays, exhibited their talents to near perfection. The judges truly had a difficult time selecting the best.

MASA yet again organized a grand display of sheer talent among their community. The aim of MASA is a noble cause and they have scrupulously given a plethora of opportunity to many budding stars to demonstrate their talents in different ways.



The main objective behind MASA Talents Day competition is to provide a platform and to advocate motivation, for participating members in building up their confidence, empowering and engaging them for glory in future endeavors.

Singing melodious songs from yester years to the latest hot numbers ringing on the charts, participants rocked the stage with their rocking performances. Dancing to the tunes, contestants also enthralled the crowd with a compassionate display of fancy dress for one and all to remember for years to come.

The rollicking event kick started in a traditional ritualistic way lighting the ceremonial lamp by president, advisory committee and EXCOM members. Entertainment committee head Dayanand Chowta welcomed the members and guests. President Sadashiv Poojary while addressing the gathering thanked all the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment in exhibiting their talents. He appreciated the parents for encouraging their children to keep the spirit of talents day alive. Chief Judge Ravi Karkera briefed on the contest rules during his welcome address and introduction of judges.

MASA committee, volunteers and participants ensured that the event was well organized and entertaining to the viewers. Judges were introduced by Ravi Karkera, Mohammed Nooman and Naveen Bhandary.

The event was powered by Joey Fernandes (M/S Al Manafa Trading & Transportation Services Co) Yogeesh Poojary (Saudi Specialize Industrial Services [SASP]) and Sadashiv Poojary (M/S Inter Modal Services of Saudi Arabia).

Madhusha Nanayakkara, Sadiqa Waheed, Sarita Praveen Aranha, Manohary Shivarajah, Virajini Amithirigala, Divya Shetty, Narendra Shetty and Dhanuji Nanayakkara were the judges for the dance events.

Dolphy Veigas, Katija Habib, Yogeesh Poojary, Anusha Rai, Joey Fernandes, Siverajah Shanmugham, Gopal Shetty and Amrit D’Souza were the judges for fancy dress competition.

Minuri Wijesekara, Roshan S. Kotian, Jitesh Kottara and Chatura Disanayaka were the judges for the singing competition.

Nayaz Kaiser, Mohammed Nooman, Sujaya Karkera, Mahima Poojary, Rekha Shetty, Mohammed Shahid, Shakib Ahmed, Bhaskar Kanchan, Sunil Puthran and Victor Sequeira were the anchors for the event.

Winners were awarded with attractive trophies. Participants under 18 years were presented with medals. Award ceremony was conducted by Ravi Karkera and Naveen Bhandary.

A raffle draw was also conducted during the event with attractive prizes. Joint secretary Praveen Peter Aranha rendered the vote of thanks.

The boisterous event concluded with a bucket list of commemorations, and curtains drew with the singing of the national anthem.
