Mumbai: Monthi Fest celebrated by Konkani Seva Mandal, Goregaon

Mumbai, Sep 28: Konkani Seva Mandal along with the parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Goregaon West, celebrated Monthi Fest with gaiety on September 24.The day commenced with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in Konkani at 7 am.

Fr Frank Fernandes was the main celebrant. The new corn was blessed during the Eucharist. The cultural programme was held from 11.30 am onwards which was graced by the church parish team.

The cultural programme was compered Richard D’Sa and Venisha D’Souza. The programme started with a prayer dance by Jenitha and Priya. The programme also included singing of Konkani songs, dancing to Konkani tunes and Konkani comedy skit ‘Teen Pirkis’ enacted by Johnson D’Souza, Maurice D’Souza and Francis Alvares.

There were spot prizes and lucky draw for the audience. The programme ended with delicious vegetarian meal served to over 350 people. As a part of the tradition, sugarcane was distributed to all.
