Mangalore, Nov 6: Earlier any news from Mangalore and surroundings reached abroad only after several days. But it isn’t the case today. It reaches every nook and corner of the world within a few minutes. This has become possible only because of Walter Nandalike, the editor-in-chief of ‘www.daijiworld.com. He has made the world so small with his innovation and creativity,’ said Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore.
Speaking after presenting the ‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award-2007,’ to Walter Nandalike at Town Hall here on Tuesday November 6, he said that Daijiworld.com is not only providing news and articles but also engaged in the activities of social service in its own way by collecting funds for the needy and suffering families, he informed.
Daijiworld.com has also been introducing new talents to the society. Moreover, this website is part and parcel of the life of Mangaloreans who are working abroad. Hence, ‘Daijiworld’ is the pride of Mangalore, the Bishop opined. At the same time he advised to adhere to the truth and to avoid news which are far from truth.
Speaking after receiving the the ‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award-2007,’ Walter Nandalike said that the media field is facing cut-throat competition today. Hence, many media are intervening in the personal life of the people. But none of the media should interfere in the personal life of any individual, rather it should promote social welfare, he said.
A big team is working behind Daijiworld.com for its success. That is why the website has gained prominence all over the world in the present era, he informed. At the same time he recalled the support of his parents, wife and children in his life.
Sudhir P Ghate, chairman of Magnum Intergraphics Private Limited, in his presidential address said that Walter Nandalike has opened a big window between Mangalore and the Mangaloreans who work abroad for their livelihood, which no other has done yet. “That is why he deserves the ‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award-2007,” said Ghate.

Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, Felix D’Souza, well-known politician of Mumbai and Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, parish priest of Valencia were the chief guests of the occasion.
Raymond D’Cunha, editor, Pingara Kannada journal, welcomed the gathering. The students of Sandesha College of Fine Arts, performed welcome dance.
Magic Show:
Fr Ivan Madta mesmerized the audience by his magic show on this occasion. As these columns had reported earlier, he had lost his left hand owing to an accident at Mumbai sometime ago. Later, an artificial hand was fixed to him. However, none of these obstacles have prevented him from performing magic show. He proved that a determined mind can overcome any amount of hurdles and scale greater heights. His magic show was well-appreciated by one and all. Along with this, well-known singers Anita Sampson, Abbas and Ram Kumar enthralled the gathering with some soulful Kannada songs. Jai Karnataka Dhadi band from Pakshikere’s performance too was well-appreciated by the gathering.
