Bahrain: Star-studded 'Ramee Rasa Sanje' to mark Ugadi

Bahrain, Mar 28: Kannadigas of Bahrain will celebrate the upcoming Ugadi (New Year) with a gala entertainment programme ‘Ramee Rasa Sanje-2013’ on April 5.

Kannada film industry’s heart-throb, the “Challenging Star” Darshan will be the star attraction of the show, which will be an evening of glamour, music, laughter and fun.

Well-known playback singers from Karnataka – Anuradha Bhat and Hemanth Kumar --  will enthrall the  audience with golden melodies as well as new hits, while versatile Mimicry Gopi will entertain the audience with his mimicry and rib-ticking humour.

Anupama Bhat, a well-known face on TV channels in Karnataka, and Bahrain’s “Kasturi Kamal” show fame Kamalaksha Amin will anchor the event.

The event, which is hosted by the Indian Club and Namma Kannada Bahrain in association with Baron Management Co, follows the successful Ramee Rasa Sanje organised last year and is dedicated to the more than 20,000 people from Karnataka living in Bahrain.

The event, to be held at the Indian Club’s open air theatre, is expected to draw a crowd of more than 2,000 people. The event starts at 5:30 pm and entry is free. 

The title sponsor for the event is Ramee group of hotels, resorts and apartments.

“It’s going to be a wholesome show for the entire family. There will be music, comedy and other entertaining side shows to cater to the young as well as the old. All are welcome to the event,” said Namma Kannada conveners Austin Santhosh and Kamalaksha Amin.

“The artists coming from India are versatile and are proven talents. The people from Karnataka on the island will surely have a great time,” they said.

Darshan, son of character actor Toogudeepa Srinivas, is a leading Kannada film star with a string of hits under his belt. Darshan made his film debut in 2001 film "Majestic" and has since then starred in film such as Kariya, Namma Preethiya Ramu, Gaja, Saarathi  and Chingari.

His recent historical film "Sangolli Rayanna" has been a great success. To date, he has acted in over 40 feature films. He is also known for his strong passion for wild animals and owns a private zoo in Mysore.

Anuradha Bhat, who is visiting Bahrain for the fourth time is an artist who is loved by Bahrain’s audience for her melodious voice. She has sung for more than 400 Kannada films already and is a popular judge for many reality music shows on TV.

Bhat, who has sung for many other Indian language films also, has performed at live shows in the Gulf, UK, Singapore, Australia and the US, apart from all across India.

Her noted films include Joshh, Paramesha Paanwala, Dubai Baabu, Veera Madhakari, Junglee, Savaari, Sanchaari, Krishnan Love Story, Modhala Sala, Eno Onthara, Pancharangi, Krishnan Marriage Story, Kiraathaka, Jaraasandha, etc.

Hemanth is an award-winning singer, who has given many hit songs for the Kannada film industry.  He has also hosted many TV music programmes and is today one of the top singers of the industry.

Hemanth who won the hearts of Kannadigas through his ‘preetse, preetse” song from “Preetse” film, is today one of the most popular singers in the industry, giving several hit songs. He is the winner of many awards including the Filmfare Award.

Gopi is a member of the well-known Hasya Loka team of noted humourist Dayanand. He has given shows all over Karnataka and is regularly appears on popular TV shows. Gopi’s talent has also drawn the attention of Kannada film industry and he has acted in many films in challenging roles.

Anupama Bhat is a noted anchor of TV shows as well as cultural shows all across Karnataka. She is also well-versed in celebrity interviews and talks shows. Her “Comedy Show” on Udaya TV is rated very high. She has also acted in many documentaries and TV serials.

UAE Karnataka Sangha president Girish Shetty and UAE-based noted businessman and JD (S) leader from Mandya Zafarullah Khan will be the chief guests of the evening.

Dancers trained by well-known local choreographer Chandra Kala will dance to the music during the show.
