Mangalore, Oct 19: A team of police arrested a person relating to the recent abduction of medical student Nabeel Ahmed, a student of Yenepoya Medical College.

Nabeel, a native of Trissur and serving as an intern at the hospital, was abducted from Nityanand Nagar in Kotekar.

Nabeel Ahmed

Nabeel Ahmed had been forcibly abducted from his residence on the night of October 12. The gang, which took him to Manjeshwar and surrounding places in Kasargod district, had placed a demand for ransom. Efforts of the abductors and the student to contact his father working abroad during his captivity to negotiate a ransom deal had proved futile.

After the police started raiding various places and checking vehicles, the culprits developed cold feet and released  Ahmed the next morning at Udyavar near Manjeshwar.

The arrest was made by a team led by assistant police commissioner, T R Jagannath, and a team of PCR functioning within Konaje police station limits. The team led by T R Jagannath and city crime branch inspector, Venkatesh Prasanna, found out the car involved with the abduction, and confiscated it, on the basis of information collected from the arrested person.

The accused has been identified as Parviz Ahmed Bodda (24), residing at D H House in Pavoor Debbilachil in Harekala village. It is learnt that the police also have gathered information about the other four members of the gang, and an operation has been launched to nab them. Investigation of the case is being conducted by police attached to Konaje police station.

The accused, on being produced in a court, was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Great work of the Police team of Mangalore and the police personnel of Koneje Station.

We have seen kidnapping in movies and read news about happening in metros like Mumbai etc. But, an adult, that too in Mangalore is kidnapped sounds too strange. I wish all the culprits are caught and thrashed into jail cell for at least 5 years.

Why they have to abduct someone for money, if they need money let them beg on the road, there is no objection for it. Nabeel Ahmed and his parents were good humans that is reason they are happy.

VERY GOOD NEWS AS OUR POLICE PERSONNEL ARE VERY EFFICIENT IN CASES WHERE IN A HUGE MONEY AND MAY BE HAWALA MATTERS ARE INVOLVED.

ANY WAY AT A LATER STAGE WHEN FILING THE CASE IN THE COURT WE HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW MUCH MONEY IS DEPOSITED IN THE COURT.
