Mangalore, Oct 13: Mangalore City Crime Branch Police have solved the abduction case of a medical student and have also succeeded in rescuing the student within hours after the incident took place. The squad was led by CCB Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna.

Nabeel Mohammed, a student in Yenepoya Medical College in Deralakatte was abducted by a team which came in a brown car Wednesday midnight.

Hailing from Trissur, he stayed in a rented house in Deralakatte. Nabeel’s parents are working abroad. Nabeel purchased land and was constructing a multi-storey house in Deralakatte.

Nabil himself was looking after the work on his house. The money required for the house construction was deposited by his parents in his bank account. Knowing this well, a gang plotted to kidnap him, it is learnt. However, investigations will reveal more details on this soon.

After kidnapping, the car was driven in the direction of Kasargod. Acting on tip-off, at around 10 am on Thursday October 13, the police team led by Venkatesh Prasanna traced the car near Manjeshwar and rescued Nabeel. However, the abductors had managed to get away, police said, adding that Nabeel had been assaulted by the culprits.

Another source said that there was some clash over land issue between Nabeel and the kidnappers.

Nabeel was brought to Ullal police station and later admitted to hospital.

and somewhere down the line there seem to be able here who themselves avail of hospitality of another country but are reluctant to let others avail of it in their city.. The guy had finished and was a doctor. He wasnt doing anything illegal building something in a part of his own country. But it seems we mangloreans are too steeped in finding a story within a story before admitting we do have a genuine problem here.hats off to mr menezes:p

Mr.C. K. Dayananda, what do you mean by these people kindly explain as far as i assume it may be BD, SENA(S) because what ever we are reading nowadays in the print media or watching the electronic media it these people who are in all kind of illegal activities and being thrown behind bars.

Here I partly agree with Stephen and partly disagree.

Medical student do not have time to study their own lessons. How come Mr. Nabeel is investing his time in constructing a multi-storey house in Deralakatte, on the land purchased by him. This seems to me, a little shady.

Point not agreeing with Stephen - Every citizen of this Country free to settle and buy land anywhere in India and the Constitution of India gives this liberty.

    @stephen...
the student in question is no more a student but a doctor...he completed his mbbs in the stipulated time and is completing the last few months of his internship..abt constructing the building, he has decided to make an investment and how he does so happens to be his wish..
the topic at hand here is which u skipped so easily, is that he was abducted and assaulted by the locals..and thanks to God he is presently safe..
I cannot imagine why u would comment such things without getting your facts right.when u urself said Indians can buy land in Dubai,y is it wrong for an indian to buy land in India???..
Dont forget that u yourself are making money in a foreign country..and also that mangalore is an educational hub..these medical colleges with students from all over India play a large part in the progress of this city...

I guess this is just the jealousy talking..wat els can explain ur concern for why he is constructing the building rather than who are the abductors

Vivek Baliga, and Stephen…is there any law prohibiting students from being entrepreneur or not to indulge in the hobby of personal choice? Why do you think a student should not build building! I have seen several cases where students earn big money while studying and yet doing justice to their studies and making parents happy! Are we jealous here? Is it due to very few of our local students depending on parent’s money even after completing education or wasting money and not completing education???

Many of the Mangaloreans who comment here don't know the deeper implications. Any way, that is the Great Mangalorean "Thinking". Keep it up Mangaloreans!

Stephen Menezes... correct , bang on man, students are supposed to study , rather than buy land, build multi story complexes and show off there wealth, there is more to this stuff, either the cops dont wanna tell, or they are yet to find out, one thing is sure, this student will never leave Kudla and go, and will remain a student. he has some long term plans, education was just a eye wash for people round him

To whomsoever is doubting the academic ability of dr. Nabeel. . . . He was the topper of his class in 1st year Mbbs with aggregate 70 percent he was the topper among boys in the final year aggregate 65 percent he has cleared mbbs in the stipulated time and noone has a right to talk about my friend without proper knowledge about him. . . And the amount of physical and mental trauma what he is going through can't be measured in words. . . And i sincierly request not to make derogatory comments about him rather we can support him and the police with some positive words . . . . . .!

Anyway, Police solved kidnap case. Nabeel is safe. It is upto him to study or build a house or start a grocery shop. We don't have any right to advice him.Good luck Nabeel.

Kudos to The Law Enforcement department. Obviously one feels safe in Mangalore where The Police Force is under the direction and guidance of Commissioner Semanth Singh who is neither new to Mangalore nor the residents of The City. With his long experience - by instinct he is able to discern the situation and ensure that The Police Force gets into action without any delay whatsoever.

Venkatesh Prasanna - You have done a great job and deserve the highest praise. May you continue in the same strain and qualify for awards both from The State as well as from The President. Congrats to you.

Others who commented about Dubai, for your info one can buy land and build houses.

I know Indians can buy land and build houses anywhere in india, but my point is why on earth by the student when he has to concentrate on studying to become a good doctor (or does he wnat to become quack.)

Mr. Stephen Menezes, your comment may have an element of truth but is very distasteful, as any Indian Citizen can buy/own property in any part of India. While I appreciate the quick response and successful action of our Police department, I am also concerned about the Crime in our once peaceful city of Mangalore. How come development and crime go hand in hand in Mangalore??
Venkatesh Prasanna is an intelligent and able officer and I salute him.
