Udupi, Aug 17: “PFI and SDPI organizations that create unrest in the country and looking for reasons for communal tension and to destroy public property, have continued their old habits on the eve of 75th Independence Day. PFI are uncivilized. I will not speak about them. The government is trying to defeat them. Congress has preserved hollow patriots,” said BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna garlanding the banner with Veer Savarkar at Brahmagiri circle.

He further said, “Congress is saying that the freedom struggle began from their houses. We have offered floral tributes to the pictures of Veer Savarkar and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. We will answer by installing a statue of Savarkar in the future. Congress has looted the country by 60 years of rule. A handful of Congress people have asked to remove the banners. They are making statements just for votes. Let them remove the banners if they have the guts.

“We will hang the banners in front of their house yards. Siddaramaiah has made several statements asking not to hang banners in Muslim areas. Mohammad Jinnah had divided the country by such statements. Indira Gandhi had released a stamp with the picture of Savarkar in 1970. But Congress has shown its colours now. Congress has lost its identity in Udupi,” he said.

As the Congress demanded the removal of the banner, BJP workers tried to gherao the district Congress office. Police stopped them and sent them back.
