Mangaluru: Techno cultural fest TIARA gets off to grand opening at St Joseph Engineering College

Mangaluru, May 18: TIARA 2022, the two-day techno cultural fest organized by St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), was inaugurated on Wedneday March 18 in the basketball court of the college. Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi, the managing director and CEO of Novigo Solutions Inc, graced the occasion as chief guest.

A cheerful flash mob entertained the crowd gathered at the venue. The main attraction of the inaugural was the Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered character ‘Atlas’ which rendered a mesmerizing welcome to the gathering. This was followed by the unveiling of TIARA, the first-ever techno cultural fest organized by the college.

Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi, in his address, complimented the students for coming up with such innovative ways of inaugurating the event. He went on to say that learning blended with technology is the way forward and said that events like these provide a platform for the students to showcase their talent. He congratulated the college on organizing an event of such stature and wished the fest great success.

Dr Rio D’Souza, principal of SJEC mentioned that the students have been eagerly waiting for this fest. He called upon the participants to take an active part in all events and make the best use of the next 2 days.

Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director of SJEC, Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, assistant director of SJEC, Rakesh Lobo, HR manager of the college were present along with the staff conveners of the fest, Vinoothan Kaliveer and Avila Priya Pinto. The student conveners of the event, Sharadhi and Caron D’Cunha were also present on the occasion.

The two-day fest will witness the participation of students from across the region in a series of technical, non-technical as well as cultural events displaying their skills and competencies.

Apart from the techno-cultural events, the major attractions of the fest include the Battle of Bands scheduled on the first day, the cultural programme and the award ceremony on the second day that will be followed by DJ Night by the popular DJ Shiva Manvi.
