Miffed with state party leadership, Hardik Patel resigns from Congress

Daijiworld Media Network - Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, May 18: Hardik Patel, the Gujarat Congress Committee working president, on Wednesday May 18, resigned from Congress. The Gujarat Assembly elections are slated to be held this year.

Patel posted his resignation letter on his official Twitter page.

It may be recalled, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached out to disgruntled Gujarat Congress Committee working president Hardik Patel to sort out differences in the party unit ahead of state assembly polls, sources had said.

Speculations were rife about Patel joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after he had lauded the BJP government for revoking Article 370 and the construction of Ram Mandir. However, Patel had issued a clarification that he is not upset with party leaders Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi but he was upset with the state leadership.

Speculations are also there that Patel might join Aam Aadmi Party.

I am glad that Hardik Patel has resigned from Congress party. Congress party made him state Gujarath Congress working committee President and still he was not going well with Senior party leaders. Somewhere the Congress party might have felt, Hardik is having deal with BJP; that might be the reason, he was side lined. Now, Hardik Patel is a free from congress and can take decisions for the welfare of his community.

I think now he is safe. From today he will get good sleep. I think he is going to join BJP soon. Now they will take full advantage of this fool and try to get full support from Patidar section of the society. After election they will show him the path. That what I think.

Hardik Patel should remember he is new to congress and has to respect and go along with the senior leaders. Expecting his will over others cannot be expected in a political party. He has to still mature in political matters. Seniors who built the party will not be willing to hand over their space to a novice in their party. If he understands this much he can survive in politics. Otherwise, he will be a rolling stone which gathers no moss.

Slowly and steadily Congress is losing all its star performers . Unlike BJP , they do not have strong leaders to boast off. Especially with youngsters , the party future leaving , it will pay a very heavy price. The party has just some old rejected leaders who are good enough for only press conference bashing and win in safe constituencies. To assist these grandpas they have internet karsevaks who are just good enough to bash online with fake ids. The ground workers are missing. Who is to be blamed???

How Congress misses someone like Mrs Indira Gandhi, the shrewd politician ever ! It is sad that both the grandson and granddaughter are not a patch on her! She converted adversities into opportunities and these vice versa!!! If you remember last time round Hardik, Alpesh, Jignesh almost won Gujarat of all states for the Congress !!! Instead of building on it see the party's plight now ! Ridiculous leadership to say the least !, Always apt at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory ! One way of becoming History...

I tend to agree with you. But lets be pragmatic here . 80% of the Indian voters are born after 1990, so to bask of the past glory is impractical. No one would know, especially in the current circumstances and scenarios and Social Media domination. It is the present leaders who have to perform for the public to digest. Congress played this 'olden day' card thru Priyanka Vadra , nose, hairstyle matching etc. The results are in front of you.

Why this is the trend only in India that leaders defect for their own whims and fancies???... We never hear any party member defecting in other nations except for India and recently Nepal and Pakistan but in minor levels... When there is defection a person is either lured with more or he can not loot anymore in the existing party... In the run up to 2023 and then 2024 we will witness lot more dramas like this...
