Jun 26: The war between Covid-19 virus and mankind seems to be not ending. As there are no effective anti-viral medicines, the vaccines are the only hope to face the pandemic. Fortunately the vaccines are prepared in an unprecedented speed and are used on emergency basis. The vaccines have helped in controlling the spread of the disease. Though these vaccines could not prevent re-infection in all, it is now proven beyond doubt that the existing Covid-19 vaccines control the seriousness of the illness and can prevent deadly complications in most of the people who are infected even after vaccination.

The Covid-19 virus is not receding. It is mutating regularly and by each mutation it is gaining strength to infect more number of people. The mutation can lead to alterations in the virus’ surface proteins or antigens. Most of the Covid-19 vaccines are prepared using the surface antigens of the virus. If the virus could change its surface antigens, then the vaccines will not be effective. Is the Covid-19 virus attempting that?

‘Delta’ to ‘Delta Plus’

The most recent mutation is ‘Delta-plus’. It is a further change in the earlier mutated strain ‘Delta’. The ‘Delta’ variant, also known as ‘Indian variant’ was first detected in India in December 2020. Though there were several variants of Covid-19 during the second wave in India, the most predominant variant found during the second wave was ‘Delta variant’. This variant was also reported to be one of the major drivers of the second wave of Covid-19 in India.

The ‘Delta variant’ has spread in many countries and caused havoc there. The ‘Delta variant’ has now become the dominant strain in the UK, currently accounting for more than 90% of cases there. In the US too, the number of Delta variant cases is rapidly rising, up from 10% of the total Covid-19 cases last week to 20% this week. It is reported that the delta variant accounts for more than a third of new cases each day in the US.

The Israeli health ministry re-imposed the rule that the masks to be worn in enclosed public places on 25th June 2021 following a surge in new Covid-19 cases which dropped 10 days ago. Israel reported more than 100 fresh cases per day for the past four days and this surge is attributed to highly contagious ‘Delta variant’.

Russia is also facing a surge in COVID-19 cases and the authorities are blaming the highly infectious Delta variant with deaths linked to the virus hitting a new record in Moscow on 25th June 2021.

The highly infectious ‘Delta variant’ has now mutated into much more potent ‘Delta Plus’ variant.

Why Covid 19 mutates?

Mutation is the property of a virus to undergo changes when it multiplies. The basic structure of virus is the combinations of different amino acids placed at particular places. The spike protein, the surface protein of Covid-19 virus is composed of a linear chain of 1,273 amino acids, neatly folded into a structure. They are like bricks placed in a proper order to build a structure. As the virus multiplies, it alters some of its amino acids, change their position resulting in new strains. (Some bricks are interchanged so that the structure remains the same, but look alters). These new strains may be stronger than the original or at times weaker. During the process of mutation, some strains die out, while the more effective ones, which spread efficiently, survive.

The Covid-19 virus also has mutated several times. The virus that has spread around the world is not the same as the virus that emerged in Wuhan province of China in late 2019. This is because, like many other viruses, Covid-19 virus has changed in its genetic structure through mutation. Mutation is a blessing from Mother Nature to many micro-organisms like viruses so that they survive facing the ‘situations that might eliminate them otherwise’! We have invented vaccines so that the virus may not multiply in a vaccinated person. To overcome this hurdle, the virus has to change its genetic structure- that is exactly what Covid-19 virus has been doing.

But all the mutations may not help the virus to thrive. Many of the mutations are silent: they do not alter the function of the virus in any way, and they don’t result in changes in disease severity or immune responses. Of those that are not silent, many are damaging to virus functions and result in non-viable viruses, and therefore do not survive into a new generation of viruses. It is known that of the 24 possible mutations of Covid-19 virus, only about 4 have benefitted the virus. The ‘Delta’ mutation is one of these.

Is ‘Delta Plus’ dangerous?

So far about 50 cases of ‘Delta Plus’ are detected in the samples analysed in India. In addition to India, around 200 ‘Delta Plus’ infections are found in several other countries worldwide including Britain, Canada, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Russia, and the US.

A mutation is classified as a ‘variant of interest’ and ‘variant of concern’ depending on its easy transmission, reduced neutralization by antibodies and vaccines effectiveness against the virus. Till now, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not classified ‘Delta Plus’ as a ‘variant of concern’ and experts believe there is not enough evidence to support the claims of this variant being a 'concern’ variant.

However, the Indian government is not taking a chance. Because of bitter experience of unpreparedness for the second wave, Indian government is treating ‘Delta Plus’ mutant as a variant of concern as a preventive step against another possible outburst of cases in the country.

INSACOG, a consortium of 28 laboratories of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has said that the ‘Delta Plus’ variant has increased transmissibility, stronger binding to receptors of lung cells and potential reduction in monoclonal antibody response.

‘The Delta Plus variant is extremely transmissible, and even walking next to a Covid-19 patient who is a carrier of this variant without a mask may lead to the spread of infection’ AIIMs director Dr Randeep Guleria has said recently.

Fears are mounting that the Delta Plus variant could trigger a possible third wave of the Covid 19 pandemic in the country. The Delta variant contributed to the explosive second wave of the pandemic here, there is a possibility that the Delta Plus might explode in the third wave.

Is ‘Delta Plus’ susceptible to existing vaccines?

As on today, most of the experts hope that the available vaccines can also act against the variant. This is yet to be established. If it is so, it is well and good. If not, then what next?

The matter of concern is that the ‘Delta Plus’ variant has the capacity to overcome the monoclonal antibodies. This is known as ‘immune escape mechanism’. This is a boost to the ‘Delta Plus’ variant of Covid-19 virus. No other variants have this capacity.

Monoclonal antibodies are artificial antibodies that mimic the antibodies produced by the immune systems. They are produced through a process that involves extracting specific antibodies from human blood and then cloning them.
These monoclonal antibodies are designed to target the spike protein of Covid 19 virus. The monoclonal antibodies bind to specific parts of the spike protein, blocking its ability to infect healthy cells.

Most of the vaccines also are designed to produce antibodies against the spike proteins of the Covid-19 virus. If the ‘Delta Plus’ variant is capable to overcome monoclonal antibodies, will it be resistant to the antibodies produced by vaccines to spike proteins?

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has stressed that both Covishield and Covaxin are effective against the Delta Plus variant. But to what extent and what is the proportion of antibodies produced by these vaccines will be effective against ‘Delta Plus’ is not yet known. We have no studies on this subject in India. However, some global experts are predicting that the effectiveness of the Covishield vaccine is only 60 percent at best against the Delta variant. Then, how much effective these vaccines to ‘Delta Plus’ variant? The answer is not known.

Even the World Health Organization has recently expressed concerns that the Delta variant of Covid-19 is reducing the efficacy of the existing Covid-19 vaccines in the world. Whereas the new Delta Plus variant contains a key mutation that allows it to evade immune responses, which means the effectiveness of vaccines against the new variant may be further lower. The effectiveness of the existing vaccines against ‘Delta Plus’ variant is only a hypothesis and not a study.

We can only hope that the existing vaccines will also act against ‘Delta Plus’ variant.

What can we do?

Moment the lockdown is relaxed, we experience ‘release phenomenon’. Many of us forget Covid appropriate behavior. The mask is not properly used or not used at all. We cannot avoid family, religious and social gatherings. Maintaining social distancing is a hard task. Most of us who have received one or both doses of vaccines also think that we are safe and have gained eternal immunity to Covid-19 virus.

And this is where we fail. We failed after the first wave and were badly hit in the second wave. Now the virus has gained further strength to infect and to cause serious illness. We are very close to the third wave. If our vaccine status does not protect us, we will be in danger because the virus is now stronger and might attack us with vengeance. The available vaccines are the only weapons we have to face the virus with, but at times the virus may become triumphant.

We have to be careful.

I repeat the words of Dr. Guleria, Director of AIIMS who said recently: ‘If cases have come down, let us not make the same mistake which we made after the first wave. We thought that the virus has gone and now we can do anything. We must understand the virus is still there and mutating. It is becoming more of a cause of concern’.

    Dear Sir, Congratulations! You have hit the nail on its head in your editorial. Jonathan Swift was dead right. "Knowledge" wrote Karl Popper "advances not by repeating known facts, but by refuting false dogmas". One of the greatest dogmas in modern medicine is that drugs and surgical procedures only cure illnesses. It is the immune system that really heals. The latter needs to be assisted. I teach my students that if any one wants to preserve his/her health intact he/she should avoid hospitals and doctors to the extent possible, but when one is ill, one needs to see a doctor without delay and be a partner in the management. Most of what we do today in modern medicine reminds me of what our ancestors did by branding for every major illness and blood letting to cure, swearing by their efficacy. We are able to comfort most of the time, which our forefathers in medicine could not achieve. That is the progress we have achieved in the last century, though. Hippocrates could well be right when he said: "cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always." Modern medical claptrap, assisted by the drug industry and instrument manufacturers, has made doctors forget their greatest role in consoling every patient. The false sense of faith in our scanners, scopes, and the powerful chemicals and the heroic surgical techniques (poor patient playing the hero's role, though), has made us forget our primary role of consoling the suffering patients who still have confidence in us. Most drugs harm the system in the long run; there are hardly any exceptions, although they do help when given for symptom relief for a short period of time. There are exceptions to every rule and it is the exceptions that prove the rule. While there is no pill for every ill, every pill has some ill following its use.     If one tries to understand human physiology in its entirety, one wonders as to how we are able to survive despite ingesting so many chemicals into our systems in the name of “scientific” western medicine. Cutting edge research in western medicine (Genetics 2008; 179: 727) has clearly shown that when any chemical sold to us by western pharmacology goes into the human system, it is rejected at first, as being a foreign poison since it is not recognised by our system. The drug goes into the liver for destruction. The liver tries to do its best, but many a times some drug still remains and this gets into the general circulation, the so called first pass effect in pharmacology class. The teacher and the student simply memorise it for the examination, but rarely understand what it portends! Thus, the chemicals have the capacity to overwork and exhaust the liver and harm the system by adverse drug reactions (ADRs), which have become one of the leading causes of deaths in the West, where deaths are routinely audited. (JAMA 2000; 284: 483). You might wonder as to how you get better if this is indeed so? We get better thanks to our own immune system that gets a shot in the arm when the mind accepts that the drug intervention will help, called the Placebo Effect (Sci. Translational Med 2011; 3: 70). The Placebo effect has been shown to be the cause of patients getting better even after complex procedures like coronary revascularisation; (J. Am. Coll Cardiol 2005; 46: 1812) this study concludes: "Treatment with percutaneous myocardial laser revascularization provides no benefit beyond that of a similar sham procedure in patients blinded to their treatment status.” The reductionism in western medicine understands the human system (physiology) as an “open systems biology” which needs outside intervention when anything goes wrong.     @ John, you are revealing more truths but propaganda influenced people will learn it the hard way as they always did. I heard one speech where the speaker stated- Bill thinks he can program a single virus to infect all interlinked computers and a single antiviral programme will reverse It, but he forgot humans are not machines as all are different it won't work. Probably for this reason he is using Nano Tec and luciferase methods to create uniform transhumans to control them! I wonder whether we have to step up our efforts to stop this evil hidden agendas of a few for a few as we are majority with good intentions.

    John, more than 99% of all organisms that ever evolved on planet earth are extinct. As new species evolve to fit ever changing ecological niches, older species just fade away, no need to get paranoid about it, for that's how creator through mother nature intended, and this has been happening long before your Georgia guidestones have been giving your kind - sleepless nights. Even going by your religious logic, all the anxiety that you are displaying day in and day out is quite unwarranted. Human life on planet earth is just like a bubble and the permanent abode is in heaven, right? So one must be happy to kick the bucket due to covid or whatever reason and embark upon blissful eternal life ASAP, But your reluctance to do so, implies that you are not sure of what lies ahead..Just quoting scripture won't do, try to live the word. Also FYI, the very first pandemic that ever the planet Black death (plague) had claimed 200 million lives in the 14th century, no communists/global elites/Gates/Soros were heard of then, still it happened but human race still survived and multipled exponentially. It was Edward Jenner, English doctor, who gave the world vaccine technology for the first time and arguably vaccination is one of the reasons why average human life span has increased over the past centuries considerably.

    Good to see some arguments here which are healthy. Now coming to Theory of Evolution and Darwin's theories are based on assumptions and creating evidence when the link of monkey to man was nonexisting. Coming to plague it was the result of people's living conditions and hygiene which we saw in last century Surat epidemic. Vaccine industries aren't what they were after Louis Pasteur. Now as they found out attenuated viruses failed to create antibodies in recipients they started adding additives like mercury, Nano aluminium, formaldehyde, genetically engineered glyphosates, bee poison, neomycins which are creating immune response but causing more injuries and deaths. With political patronage as they fund their election expenses in US and immunity granted from litigations by Ronald Reagan in 1986 greed has taken over welfare of people. FDA, CDC, Medical Councils and ICMR are under their mercy these days. Research scientists get money for research by them and if they differ or come out with side effects of vaccines they get terminated if the don't fall in line and get their reputations tarnished. To end on religious note- all prophets got laughed at mocked and killed most of the time If we see history, now Big Tec and media have joined forces the result we are seeing is Planndemic.

    @ Sujith, Mangalore, Your question about RNA vaccine needs some explanation. There are mRNA vaccines which contains a code enclosed within a serum to protect it from destruction by our immune system, that way it enters our cells and the code ďirects our cells to produce spike proteins of corona viruses and they hope our immune system will attack them and we will get antibodies against any corona virus strains. But in reality this has caused our killer T cells recognise the debris outside the cells and they think the viruses are inside the cells and they get cytokine storm which causes inflammation in those cells. The vac industry claimed the code will only enter shoulder muscles and lymph nodes but now it has been found they are in blood stream and have entered brains and vital organs which are getting inflamed and adverse vaccine injuries are causing seizures and convulsions in some and around 12500 have lost their life in US. Another danger I had explained in previous comment how they dominate our immune system and fails to recognise mutating viruses and not letting our memory immune cells to counter any infections and any ordinary infection might become life threatening like AIDS patients. Shun any genetically engineered vaccines from Pfizer & Moderna in whatever guise they might introduce them. In our country too some Vax industries are trying to introduce same type of vaccines which are in trial stage. As our Monty doctor always says if at all anybody want to take vaccines go for traditional vaccines like Covaxin. But I'm against any vaccines containing additives and adjuavants which are toxic to our bodies which might cause autoimmune diseases and cancers or anaphylactic shock to blood clots ending in heart attacks & strokes. Best option is wait for a longer period to see vaccinated people fare for a year or two, as hasty medical decisions are more dangerous than the Corona itself with recovery rate of 99.997% .

    Sorry for the delay in responding.Pfizer vaccine is based on mRNA .Dr Rajendra Kapila an expert on infectious diseases in New Jersey had taken 2 doses of Pfizer vaccine but died in Delhi of Covid where he had come to look after his parents.This is about the non-effectiveness, now about side effects we know it causes cardiomyopathy ( inflammation of heart muscles).We might know the long term side effects only in the next generation , a drug - Thalidomide that was certified safe caused Phocomelia (child born without limbs) in the next generation. Coxibs that were certified safe caused prolongation of the QT interval in this generation itself.Only when a large population has taken a medicine, we can know the true effects and side effects..Same is true for surgical procedures.Trials are known to be manipulated.

    No longer conspiracy theories exist as whatever they had predicted in 2015 & 2017 is reality now. Unless one sees the foot prints left behind by Bill Gates and Co. Which are all over in recorded videos and funds poured into Wuhan lab and WHO through Dr Fauci and how he bungled in 2008 which was exposed by whistle blower and CNN nobody can join the dots and see the pandemic hoax creation. This time he took media with him and Big Tec as investors in vaccine industries to censor and delete truth and real facts. But still he is failing as more and more people have realised who is behind this planndemic as alternative platforms exposing the philanthropist sheepskin garbed wolf. He has been caught red handed in Andhra Gujarat and in Africa where his Gates Foundation used teenage girls to test for HPV vaccines which caused adverse vaccine injuries and deaths and those who survived are sterile and aren't getting pregnant this is one of many such examples proving he means what he says- the depopulation agenda through vaccines and abortions he supports.

    Yeah, this knowledge changed my view about the wrong germ theory and I sound weird in my comments. They will change too when they find these exciting new finds as not fictional but evidence based science debunking the old out of date science we still cling on to.

    Interesting info on gut (second brain) microbiome:: Brisbane, Jun 27: Research published in Nature Microbiology has identified 54,118 species of virus living in the human gut - 92 per cent of which were previously unknown. But as we and our colleagues from the Joint Genome Institute and Stanford University in California found, the great majority of these were bacteriophages, or "phages" for short. These viruses "eat" bacteria and can't attack human cells. When most of us think of viruses, we think of organisms that infect our cells with diseases such as mumps, measles or, more recently, COVID-19. However, there are a vast number of these microscopic parasites in our bodies - mostly in our gut - that target the microbes that live there. They protect us against pathogenic bacteria, modulate our mental well-being, prime our immune system when we are children, and have an ongoing role in immune regulation into adulthood. It's fair to say the human gut is now the most well-studied microbial ecosystem on the planet. Yet more than 70 per cent of the microbial species that live there have yet to be grown in the laboratory. We know this because we can access the genetic blueprints of the gut microbiome via an approach known as metagenomics. This is a powerful technique whereby DNA is directly extracted from an environment and randomly sequenced, giving us a snapshot of what is present within and what it might be doing. Metagenomic studies have revealed how far we still have to go to catalogue and isolate all the microbial species in the human gut - and even further to go when it comes to viruses.

    Wonderful revelations putting at rest the Germ Theory of modern medical science. I had listened to Triple M.D. Dr Zac Bush and he took me through cosmic mysterious world of microbiome and how they help us live as hosts etc. He had explained how viruses express under stress from environmental pollution and how epidemics are created due to imbalance created by us. For this reason indiscriminate use of antibiotics, pesticides should be avoided. Unless our modern medical science learns more about them it will consider every virus as enemies and we see how the world is realing under these wrong approaches. Genetically modified foods destroy the gut biome thereby causing autoimmune diseases and cancers too including leaky gut syndrome. Let's go back to natural methods and organic foods to live healthy and invest in Real Health Insurance through our second brain.

    A good news for all those who are for Informed Choice of vaccines- Dr S Kakkilaya and parents have sent legal notice to Dr Ashwath for enforcing all students to get vaccinated to enter the colleges which is illegal as Gujarat and Meghalaya High Courts have have objected to the move. Time for all parents and people to wake up and stop these illegal orders of public servants whose salaries are paid by us to serve us and never to treat us like slaves.

    Serious side effects, mainly CV, are being reported with the Moderna vaccine, IMHO they have no previous experience with vaccine mfg! In their fact sheet it's clearly mentioned that: "it may prevent infection"; also, "meant for Emergency Use Authorization Only"! Long term effects nobody knows!     Yes in an emergency when people are dropping dead (Wuhan Drama) the vaccine companies bypassed the FDA norms to fast track unproven vaccines as indemnity is there in US for them. India too is on the way to protect them by offering indemnity from prosecution and they need not pay a single rupee as compensation to the vaccine injured and dead. Indian companies too are asking for the same. Without any FDA approved vaccines our govts are enforcing mass vaccinations to students and elderly by blackmailing them to withhold any pensions or disability benefits. Students are threatened to stop from entering colleges and writing exams without the jabs which is a clear violation of Human Rights and Nuremberg Code. Time to sue the colleges and any agencies who want to implement this communist rules which curtail freedom of choice of people. Let the colleges arrange different rooms for the unvaccinated despite it being a discriminatory option as they have collected full fees to provide a year's education.

    All of the most vocal voices, everywhere in the world(i read about), questioning the why, when and how of the COVID vaccines are not anti-vaxxers and in fact, they claim that, they themselves or their family members have been COVID vaccinated. In a free world, we should not indulge in “ if you are not with us then you must be against us” binaries. Following news can be read from FDA website dtd. June 25,2021: the FDA is announcing revisions to the patient and provider fact sheets for the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines regarding the suggested increased risks of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the tissue surrounding the heart) following vaccination. The below link to a study by Nabin K. Shrestha et al dtd. June 5,2021 states among its conclusions – Quote This study shows that subjects previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 are unlikely to get COVID- 19 reinfection whether or not they receive the vaccine. This finding calls into question the necessity to vaccinate those who have already had SARS-CoV-2 infection. Unquote.     @Rudolph I have written about Guillan Barre syndrome ( ascending polyneuritis) , in my earlier comments,the motor functions are lost and sensory functions are present- one feels the pain but cannot move a limb and cannot swallow. I have a choice I would prefer to die of Covid rather than GB . At least 16 cases have been reported in Karnataka , it can occur after any vaccine,is not common, but not rare and there is no definite treatment.

    There are few cases of death due to anaphylaxis after vaccination, one such case has been acknowledged by our government also, but there might be many more.This condition can be treated with 0.3 ml adrenaline, but how many at the vaccination centers know about anaphylaxis and how many keep a pre-filled syringe of adrenaline ready, it has to be given instantaneously , even through the clothes to prevent death. Death due to blood clots can be treated with dicumarol and similar, but can be aggravated by Heparin though both are anticoagulants, how many know about this and is Dicumarol available at the chemist ( both adrenaline and dicumarol are in Short supply at Mangalore), I had to get it from Mumbai , though I did not have to use either.(fortunately).

    Good to know about the numbers quoted by you doc Nazareth. Here are facts and numbers given by IMA- Last year around 758 doctors died all over India, but in May end itself the number has breached 750 despite 2 doses of jabs. Either take them as covid or Adverse Vaccine Caused? All over the world the vaccine industries trumpet the same lines and according to scientists and doctors it wasn't based on facts or research reports but just propaganda. In the first wave 80 % were asymptomatic, 15% had mild symptoms while only 5% needed hospital care while only 1% needed ICU care or Ventilators, this time 95% are asymptomatic means healthy . The numbers were inflated all over the world by including all deaths as covid is well known fact. Fear and mismanagement of viral infections along with experimental administration of experimental medicines caused most deaths too. Till today the deaths were with covid and not due to covid as nobody proved the same to gain the bounty offered by European doctors and scientists.

    True, one cannot rely on the data given to us! Many doctors including virologists have died even after taking both jabs! Funniest thing is that the administration has, without consent of experts, increased the gap from 1 month to 12-18 weeks for obvious reasons! It should be anybody's guess what the outcome in such cases would be! Also, there were atleast 2 cases of mass fake vaccinations in posh housing societies of Mumbai! The disease itself is not so serious in healthy people, and most people who perished earlier were because of the dangerous experimental medications pumped into them in hospitals including minerals like zinc, which is one of the causes of black fungus! The panic created was so much that many people took it as a death warrant & went into shock half dead!

    What I have written is not the claim of any vaccination firm. We have evidence that the current vaccines definitely reduce severity of the disease. Many who are infected after vaccination(known as break through infection) may have minor illness or no symptoms at all. Admission to ICU and deaths are very rare in vaccinated people. To give an example in Karnataka up to the end of December 2020 total deaths due to Covid19 were 12585. Of these 61 were doctors(0.48%). That was during first wave; then vaccines were not available. Subsequently doctors and others in the medical field were vaccinated. Most of them received both the doses; however not every one. During the second wave till today in Karnataka there are 21954 deaths, of these only 9 are doctors(0.04%). This is an example to prove that the vaccines have saved many lives so far. I have seen many people who are infected after vaccination had very mild illness. The available vaccines give protection for the existing strains. We have to wait and see whether newer strains also will be susceptible to the existing vaccines. (However it is impossible to convince some people, who are against vaccination for the reasons best known to them)

    I am a pro vaccine person, all my family members are fully vaccinated with Covaxin( which is a time tested method-inactivated Corona whole virus) but Dr. K K Agarwal - Padmashree and past president of Indian Medical Association died of Covid after 2 doses of ? Covishield, Dr Kapila of New Jersey died in Delhi after 2 doses of Pfizer vaccine, which he had taken in US. There were many deaths abroad due to blood clots after Astra Zeneca ( similar to Covishield)vaccine, due to which it is still banned in many countries. A sub inspector and a ACP in Chennai and a constable in Mangalore died of Covid, iall after 2 doses. I believe old is gold in medicine!!

    We are only skeptical because no one knows the long term effect. After 6 to 12 months of taking the 2nd dose everyone is fine the skepticism will go away. Just recently ToI published a news item stating that Covid causes blood clots and cheekily mentioned deep inside the article that the patient was a Covishield double-doser. Such shenanigans are not helping. One other thing, they got the RT-PCR thing going for Covid. There were no such tests in previous decades. How many deadly virus pamdemics did we miss given that there are so many viruses out there in the wild, in the subways, etc

    Covaxin (Bharat Biotech) is manufactured from Corona virus (not Adeno) and the whole virus (not spike protein or part of the virus) so in the long run it should protect better against all mutant strains (only time will tell)and give lesser side effects( e.g intravascular clotting).

    Good article Dr. I have a query 1. Is the capacity of the body to produce antibodies finite or infinite 2. What is the difference between natural antibodies and those produced by vaccines 3. Will the body not fight out all variants with full force which it might do half heartedly with antibodies by vaccines 4. Will the body not develop state of being imuno-compromised due to repeated and booster vaccination 5. What if a new virus different from covid 19 emerges and does the antibodies by present vaccines pose a threat in fighting it.

    @Rohan I am not an expert so until an expert answers your question, in my humble opinion -naturally produced antibodies due to exposure to virus will produce better antibodies than vaccines, but we do not know how long the antibodies will last ( natural or post vaccine).A serology test can reveal if a person has antibodies against a particular virus and approx. the strength of the response.The antibodies produced due to viral infection or vaccines might(not always) protect by cross immunity against similar viruses.Apart from antibodies there are other cells which are activated by memory cells which produces a robust response in case of exposure to this or similar virus.

    @ Rohan, Good questions. My opinion is as long as you're healthy and nourish your body with healthy diet and lifestyle along with positive mental attitude your immune system would protect you. But if you prevent the body from using its natural immunity by consuming medicines then it fails just like comorbid conditional patients, cancer patients getting chemo etc. The natural immunity got through infections is long lasting compared to vaccine induced according to many doctors. The intramuscular or subcutaneous way of infecting is not the way respiratory diseases. Now nasal spray like normal respiratory tract vaccinations are tried for this reason. Yes as Dr Dhand & Dr Monty say even when antibodies recede unlike vaccines which doesn't provide immunity the natural infections give long term immunity by leaving memory of viruses and killer T cells recognise them and kill them even when they are from different variants. Repeated doses or booster doses stop natural immune system due to the toxic adjuavants and additives which are used in vaccines to stimulate our immune system to produce antibodies and it goes haywire due to which autoimmune diseases and cancers are increasing in most vaccinated or hyper sensitive people. mRNA vaccines suppress our other immune cells which only fights against programmed viruses with spike proteins only, when new variants infect they don't recognise them and don't let our other immune cells to fight them too, which could be dangerous even when other ordinary viruses infect, they will be sitting ducks like AIDS patients. This fall and winter will be crucial test for vaccines and recipients too of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for this reason. Let's just wait and see if it's true.

Even during the most dangerous first wave it didn't qualify to be called a pandemic as mortality rate of same or less dangerous than seasonal flu with recovery rate of 99.997%. As viruses mutate they always infect more but are less lethal as previous epidemics have proven as they enter 2nd year and vaccine industries always claim it's because of their work. In the end doctor too opines about efficacy of vaccines while giving out a hint they too are responsible for viral mutations. Let's not worry about any number of mutations or about existing 1,20,000 viruses by helping our immune system to counter all of them by living healthy and eating healthy like our ancestors did. Priming our immune system by getting daily dose of bacteria and viruses is only successful way of countering them all and not by running away or hiding from them which is based & implemented on Chinese Model of drama.

    You are right, each mutation makes the virus stronger as it wants to survive. The first "wild" virus was the weakest, so if it was allowed to spread naturally, no lockdown, no mask, no social distancing, then many would have got exposed to this first weak virus and developed antibodies- there would have been no second, third wave etc and fewer mortality, provided comorbidities were kept under control. No loss to economy, no impairment to education and life would have continued as usual without fear and panic.
