Kuwait, Feb 24: Kuwait Kannada Koota celebrated its 25th ‘Daasara Aradhane’ programme with great pomp and show at Carmel School on Friday February 20. Keeping in mind the global financial crisis, the programme started with the performing of Sri Satyanarayana Puja, offering prayers to the Lord for the well being of the community members in particular and the entire humanity in general.

After the Puja, the programme started with an invocation song, rendered by Madhavi Kulkarni. Usha Shetty, first lady of the Koota, lit the traditional lamp. Then the president of the Koota Satish Chandra Shetty welcomed the gathering.

The cultural committee organized very colourful programmes starting with a dazzling instrumental fusion of piano, tenor horn, guitar and tabla to the vocal rendition of the popular religious hymn, ‘Mahaganapathim Bhaje’. There was a power point presentation on the life histories of Dasas and Sharanas, followed by a skillful dance performance by the Koota children to the Purandara Dasa keerthane “Jagadoddharana…”

The tiny tots of the Koota stole the show with their fancy dresses, mimicking various mythological characters. In a show of nice gesture, the Koota executive committee of 2009 honoured the executive committee members of the 2008 batch for their excellent performance and functioning for the year 2008.

This was followed by spiritually motivating Bhajans by the children. Women and men folk of the Koota slowly got shifted to the spiritual mode, with the chanting of Bhajans reaching the crescendo. All the people present there were seen swaying to the chanting of the Lord’s names, through the ‘Govinda Namavali’. A few men got so ecstatic that they started to dance to the tune of the Bhajans. In short, the programme gave a pleasant experience to every one present there, and it augured well for the Koota to start the year-long silver jubilee with a programme that left every member of the Koota craving for more.
