Mumbai, Oct 29: Actress Sai Pallavi will be seen playing a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer in Dhanush and Mammootty’s upcoming film OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood. The makers on Monday unveiled her character, Nithya Reddy, through a first-look video that has generated considerable excitement among fans.
The video offers a glimpse of Nithya investigating a red sandalwood smuggling case. Hailing from Naidupet in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district, the officer has a personal connection to the forests she is tasked with protecting. Her father, an Indian Forest Service officer, lost his life while safeguarding them.

The makers described Nithya as a character who combines “honesty, smartness and experience in young blood”. The role marks another notable appearance for Sai Pallavi, whose performances have earned appreciation from audiences.
The first-look video received an enthusiastic response on social media, with fans praising her appearance and expressing excitement about her performance. Comments included “Queen is back” and “Sai Pallavi is gonna cook everyone in the movie with her peak performance.” Several fans also celebrated her reunion with Dhanush, recalling their popular pairing in the song Rowdy Baby.
Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi is preparing for her Bollywood debut with Ramayana, in which she plays Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, while Yash portrays Ravana. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5.
The makers recently released Mangal Rang, a song depicting the relationship between Rama and Sita and their journey together. However, the track sparked discussions online over its qawwali-like musical elements, while a scene showing women applying haldi to Rama, with Sita standing beside him, also drew mixed reactions from viewers.
Returning to OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood, the film is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and features Dhanush and Mammootty in lead roles. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 20 following a change to its original release plan.
The film was initially slated to release on October 16, a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Dhanush announced the postponement last month, citing the release of Rajinikanth’s film and his respect for the superstar.
