Mumbai, Sep 18: Wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is currently leading the Indian side at the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa, has been named captain of Team India for the seven-match one-day international series against Australia starting September 29.
The Indian cricket team's manager, Sunil Dev, informed the Indian team in South Africa about the decision.
The selectors are meeting in Mumbai on Tuesday September 18 and will name the new captain at a press conference later in the day. The decision is being taken following Rahul Dravid's surprise resignation on Friday.
Dravid said he wasn't enjoying the job after two years at the helm.
