Hemacharya's new book released at Kalaangann, Robin Sequeira Live enchants audience

Mangaluru, Mar 2: Mandd Sobhann’s 291st monthly theatre programme, ‘Robin Sequeira Live’ was held on Sunday March 1 at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar.

The event began with the release of the book Amchi Mati Amchim Mo’nsham (Our Soil, Our People), written by veteran litterateur Hemacharya and published by Ujwal Prakashan, which was unveiled by seasoned singer Joyce Ozario. Walter Nandalike, head of the Daijiworld media, extended his best wishes. Joachim Stany Alvares, president of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy; Roy Castelino, PRO of the Mangalore diocese; Louis J Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann; and Ina Mascarenhas, trustee of the Ian Care Foundation, were present on the stage.

The programme was officially set in motion by comedy actor Richard Sequeira by ringing the bell. Secretary Ronald Crasta was in attendance and Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the formal ceremony. Subsequently, a musical nite was performed, led by sSinger Robin Sequeira, winner of Soad-4 and Gulf Voice of Mangalore, and a two-time recipient of the Best Male Singer award at the Global Konkani Music Awards. Inspired by Eric Ozario, a group of young artistes who are making a mark in the music field joined together to present this evening in a unique commemorative style. On this occasion, Konkani Patron Ivan Pinto Kadri honoured veteran artistes Melwyn Fernandes, Rajgopal, and Roshan D’Souza.

Ten children - Ancel D’Costa, Duke Rodrigues, Eva Pereira, Andrick Jaden Pinto, Kate Pereira, Rae Cleon Sequeira, Luke D’Souza, Riyon Pinto, Shaan Devadiga, and Shawn D’Souza - earned great appreciation by showcasing their singing and musical talents. Providing vocal support alongside Robin were Zeena Pereira, Prakash D’Souza, Carol Sequeira and Meera Crasta. The musical accompaniment featured Derick D’Souza, Ivan Pereira, Rajgopal, Roshan D’Souza, Stephen Frank, Veekshith, and Vijay Rasquinha, while the Urban Groove team collaborated with dance performances. Poet Lloyd Rego smoothly conducted the musical segment in a poetic style.
