Mangaluru, Oct 27: Victoria Mabel Menezes of Mangaluru has sought an impartial inquiry into the death of her husband, Lancy Menezes, following a cardiac emergency at Margao railway station on October 11.
In a letter to the Union Railway minister, Victoria raised concerns over alleged delays in providing medical assistance and the availability of emergency facilities at railway stations. She urged the authorities to ensure the availability of trained medical personnel, ambulances and defibrillators at railway stations and public transport terminals. She also called for CPR training to help people respond effectively to medical emergencies.

According to Victoria, her husband collapsed while helping with their luggage as they were boarding the Netravati Express. She alleged that obtaining timely medical assistance during the emergency proved difficult and called for an impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Responding to a query from media, Konkan Railway said the travelling ticket examiner had alerted Commercial Control and the Railway Protection Force to arrange medical assistance.
The railway authorities maintained that the train was detained to assist the family and that efforts were made to provide assistance in accordance with established railway protocols.
