Puttur, Sep 19: In a horrifying escalation of domestic discord, a furious phone argument drove a young woman to allegedly hurl two toddlers into a deep well in Perne, within the Uppinangady police limits, this afternoon. The senseless act of rage claimed the life of one infant, while leaving another fighting for survival in critical condition.
According to local authorities, Sinan (32) and his wife Noorunnisa (28) became embroiled in a heated marital argument over a mobile phone call.
Consumed by blind fury from the domestic feud, Noorunnisa allegedly grabbed her own three-and-a-half-year-old child alongside her sister-in-law's three-year-old toddler, casting both helpless youngsters straight into a nearby water well.

Alert neighbors rushed to the scene upon realising the horror unfolding, pulling the children from the water in a desperate bid to save them. Tragically, the sister-in-law's child could not be revived and succumbed to the ordeal.
The accused woman's own child survived the initial extraction but suffered severe injuries, prompting an immediate transfer to a Mangaluru hospital for intensive medical care.
The Uppinangady police have swiftly locked down the investigation, registering a formal case under Crime No: 121/2026. Officers have taken Noorunnisa into custody and launched an aggressive interrogation to unravel the full scope of the tragedy.
