Bantwal, Sep 8: Residents of Nadumane, Sudekattemaru, and Punjavu in Ananthadi village of the taluk have submitted a memorandum to the Bantwal tahsildar, urging the immediate reopening of a 150-year-old footpath that was recently blocked.

The traditional pathway, located under survey number 137, has been utilized by the public for over a century and a half. Its sudden closure has severely inconvenienced more than 50 families who rely exclusively on this route for their daily commute.

The blockade has created immense hardship for schoolchildren, the elderly, and the general public needing to access essential services such as the local anganwadi, milk dairy, post office, and hospital. Senior citizens, in particular, are struggling to reach the post office to collect their old-age pensions and other government benefits.

Highlighting the plight of the affected residents, the villagers have strongly appealed to the tahsildar to intervene immediately, clear the blockade in the public interest, and restore smooth movement for pedestrians.
