Bengaluru, Sep 5: The coastal districts of Karnataka, including Kasargod, are likely to see a shift in weather from September 8 or 9, with rain forecast for a day or two and thunderstorms expected in areas below the Western Ghats after September 10.

Until then, the coastal belt is likely to remain largely sunny with intermittent cloud cover, while a few coastal areas could receive light drizzle over the next three to four days.

Karnataka is witnessing another change in weather conditions, and despite the weakening monsoon, rain is forecast across several Malnad and interior districts in the coming days. Existing cloud cover, coupled with locally formed clouds, is likely to trigger thunderstorms and spells of rain in several parts of the state.

In the Malnad region, evening thunderstorms are forecast at some places in Kodagu district and at one or two places in Chikkamagaluru. Shivamogga is likely to see sunny conditions with intermittent cloud cover. Scattered rain is expected in parts of Malnad on September 5, after which rainfall activity is likely to decrease.

In North Interior Karnataka, normal rainfall is possible at one or two places in Bagalkot, while the remaining districts are expected to experience a mix of sunshine and cloudy conditions.

Rainfall activity is expected to increase in some North Interior Karnataka districts from September 5, with rain likely across the other districts until September 10, except Kalyana Karnataka.

In South Interior Karnataka, rain is forecast at some places in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Hassan, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural and Tumakuru. Kolar and Chikkaballapur may receive rain at one or two places.

Meanwhile, Chitradurga, Davanagere and Vijayanagara are likely to continue experiencing sunny and cloudy conditions.

Overall, the weather pattern points to a renewed spell of thunderstorms and rain across several parts of Karnataka, with South Interior Karnataka likely to remain under the influence of thunderstorms for up to the next 10 days. The expected coastal change from September 8 or 9 could further influence weather conditions in areas below the Western Ghats after September 10, even as the monsoon remains relatively weak.
