Beltangady, Sep 2: Two rubber smoke houses were gutted in a fire at Posolike in Dharmasthala village in the early hours of Wednesday, causing an estimated loss of Rs 5 lac to Rs 6 lac.

The smoke houses belonged to local resident P K Job. The fire broke out early on September 2, and efforts were made to bring the blaze under control. However, both structures were completely gutted in the fire, it is learnt.

The two smoke houses were located close to the house.

The accidental fire caused extensive damage to both buildings, completely destroying the rubber sheets kept inside for drying and the timber stored in the structures.

The loss has been estimated at around Rs 5 lac to Rs 6 lac.
