London, Aug 1: India's Jemimah Rodrigues and Pakistan all-rounder Fatima Sana shared a brief hug and handshake after the conclusion of their franchises' match in The Hundred, with the moment drawing attention on social media.

A video circulating online showed the two cricketers greeting each other after Southern Brave defeated Birmingham Phoenix by 24 runs on Thursday. Players from both teams exchanged handshakes following the match, including Rodrigues and Fatima.

The interaction comes amid reports that Indian cricketers have generally refrained from exchanging handshakes with their Pakistani counterparts since the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.

On the field, Rodrigues played a key role in Southern Brave's victory, remaining unbeaten on 28 off 18 deliveries. Earlier, Lizelle Lee scored 43 and Maia Bouchier added 45 as Southern Brave posted 140/3.

Fatima Sana had a difficult outing with the ball, conceding 33 runs in her 15-ball spell, while Alana King and Alice Capsey claimed one wicket each for Birmingham Phoenix.

Chasing 141, Birmingham Phoenix made a promising start through a 73-run opening partnership between Tammy Beaumont (22) and Davina Perrin, who top-scored with 52 off 43 balls. However, regular wickets halted the chase as Sarah Glenn dismissed Perrin and Lauren Bell removed Alice Capsey. Sophie Molineux picked up two late wickets as Phoenix finished on 116/5.

Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 16, while Fatima Sana was not out on 5. The win extended Southern Brave's unbeaten run to four matches this season, while Birmingham Phoenix remained without a victory.
