Mangaluru, Jul 24: In the interest of food safety and public health, a team of health officials from the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) conducted inspections at street food stalls near the Bejai KSRTC bus stand and seized Ajinomoto, which is considered harmful to health.
During the inspection, it was found that some food stalls were illicitly using Ajinomoto in their preparations, which the officials subsequently confiscated. Furthermore, the health officials imposed a fine of Rs 6,000 on three street food stalls near State Bank in Mangaluru for using banned artificial colours in their food items.


On this occasion, the officials instructed all food vendors to strictly adhere to food hygiene and safety regulations.
A stern warning was issued that legal action would be initiated under the Food Safety Act against those who violate the rules and use harmful substances in food preparation.
