Beltangady, Jul 24: A leopard was spotted in the night on Charmadi Ghat, which connects Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagaluru districts, causing concern among motorists travelling through the stretch.
The leopard was seen moving along the roadside near the 11th hairpin bend. Before that, it was reportedly sitting on the roadside retaining wall. Both incidents were captured on camera by passing motorists.
Last month, a leopard was spotted on a roadside retaining wall in the Chikkamagaluru section of the ghat, about 6 km from the latest sighting. Subsequently, last week, the animal was seen moving through a rubber plantation at Neriya, near Charmadi Ghat.

Forest Department officials have advised motorists travelling through the ghat section to remain cautious and ensure that wild animals are not disturbed.
