NHAI enables digital local toll passes via Rajmargyatra app for residents within 20 km

New Delhi, July 21: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has unveiled a major upgrade to its Rajmargyatra Mobile App, enabling residents living within a 20-km radius of eligible toll plazas to buy monthly local toll passes digitally while also introducing an AI-powered assistance platform for National Highway users.

The new 'Local Pass' feature allows eligible commuters to purchase a monthly pass directly through the Rajmargyatra App, giving them unlimited travel through their respective toll plaza during the month without having to visit the toll plaza in person.

Until now, commuters seeking a local pass were required to physically visit the toll plaza and submit supporting documents to establish their eligibility. "The entire process can now be completed digitally within a few minutes," NHAI said in a statement.

The digital local toll pass facility has been launched initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi and will be rolled out to eligible toll plazas across the country over the coming months.

According to NHAI, eligibility for the local pass will be established through GIS-based verification, eliminating manual documentation while improving transparency, accuracy and user convenience.

Further enhancing the Rajmargyatra App, NHAI has also introduced 'MargMitra', an intelligent digital assistance platform designed as a single-window interface for National Highway users.

The AI-powered Help Centre enables commuters to access information, seek assistance and register grievances through an intuitive conversational interface. Users can type or speak their queries, feedback or complaints in any of India's 22 scheduled languages, with the platform providing relevant information or directing them to the appropriate service.

MargMitra offers instant assistance on a range of services, including FASTag recharge, KYC requirements, refund status, annual and local pass services, along with answers to frequently asked questions.

For issues requiring official intervention, users can lodge complaints directly through the platform, which automatically routes them to the concerned department for timely resolution. Commuters can also monitor the status of their complaints in real time and file an appeal if they are dissatisfied with the outcome.

The platform additionally allows users to check FASTag blacklisting status, view pending e-notices and report road safety concerns such as stalled vehicles and encroachments on National Highways.

NHAI has encouraged National Highway users to download the Rajmargyatra Mobile App on Android and iOS devices to access the expanding suite of digital services aimed at making highway travel safer, smarter and more convenient.
