Udupi, Jul 15: Nagesh Ganiga Siddapur (42), a resident of Hilkodu in Karkunje village of Kundapur taluk and a part-time correspondent for Vijaya Karnataka covering the Siddapur region, passed away following a sudden heart attack on Wednesday.
He is survived by his mother, five sisters, and a brother.
According to family sources, Nagesh had attended a programme in Siddapur on Wednesday morning and returned home around noon after meeting a few acquaintances. After having lunch at around 1 pm, he reportedly complained of severe chest pain while at home.

He immediately left for the Neralakatte Clinic on a motorcycle along with his brother-in-law. Doctors who examined him noticed fluctuations in his heartbeat and advised that he be shifted urgently to a hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment. He was administered preliminary treatment at the clinic, but collapsed shortly thereafter.
He was rushed by ambulance from Neralakatte towards Kundapur. However, his condition deteriorated en route, with his heartbeat reportedly dropping significantly. He was first taken to a private hospital and later shifted to the Kundapur Government General Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared that he had already succumbed to a heart attack.
The mortal remains have been kept at the mortuary of the Kundapur Government Hospital. A post-mortem examination will be conducted, after which the body will be handed over to the family on July 16. The last rites are scheduled to be held at his residence at 10 am on Thursday, July 16.
Nagesh Ganiga had been serving as a part-time correspondent for Vijaya Karnataka for the past 10 years. Known as a hardworking journalist, he was also actively involved in agriculture and was considered physically fit. His untimely demise has come as a shock to family members, colleagues, and the local community.
