Udupi, Jun 15: An unidentified youth who was found in a helpless state and undergoing treatment at the Ajjarakad district hospital has been successfully reunited with his family after nine months. This heartwarming reunion was made possible through the combined efforts of social worker Nityananda Volakadu, district hospital staff member Suresh Navoor, and the railway police.
A few months ago, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel Vishram Desai spotted the youth wandering aimlessly on the platform of the Udupi railway station during his patrol. Realizing the youth was mentally distressed, Desai sought the assistance of Nityananda Volakadu. Together, they safely admitted him to the Ajjarakad district hospital to ensure he received the necessary medical care.

Under the special care and dedicated treatment provided by Dr Vasudev at the district hospital, the youth's mental and physical health gradually improved. During his recovery, it was revealed that his name was Dileep and he hailed from Andhra Pradesh. Following this breakthrough, Nityananda Volakadu and Suresh Navoor launched a relentless search to trace his roots, which eventually yielded success as they managed to establish contact with his relatives.
It came to light that Dileep had gone missing nine months ago, and his distraught parents had been frantically searching for him ever since. Upon receiving the good news, his relieved mother and brother rushed to Udupi, confirmed his identity, and safely took him back to their native village.
The humanitarian efforts of the RPF, railway police, doctors and staff of the district hospital, and social worker Nityananda Volakadu have garnered immense appreciation from the public.
