Mangaluru, Jun 8: With a vision to establish a Sri Mookambika Temple in Pavoor Kambalpadu under Ullal Taluk, the inauguration of the Sri Mookambika Charitable Trust and a free book distribution programme were held on Sunday as part of the temple project's preliminary activities.
The trust office was inaugurated by noted social worker Ismail Shafi Babbukatte, recipient of an honorary doctorate and the Dakshina Kannada District Rajyotsava Award, who also serves as president of Bandhutva Charitable Trust. After inaugurating the office, he said that he has shared a long-standing association with Sri Mookambika Charitable Trust president Sundaranna and acknowledged his continued support to Bandhutva Charitable Trust.



Shafi Babbukatte stated that this association gave him the opportunity to support the formation of the Sri Mookambika Charitable Trust and its plans for temple construction. Highlighting the spirit of communal harmony, he noted that people from Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities are united in this initiative, reflecting Sundaranna's warmth and inclusive leadership. He expressed hope that the trust would grow further with the cooperation of all sections of society and that the construction of the Sri Mookambika Temple would be completed at the earliest.
The meeting was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by Vidyadhar Shetty, director of Posakurul. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the trust for engaging not only in religious activities but also in social service, and wished success for the temple project with the support of the public.
Presiding over the programme, Sundar, president of Sri Mookambika Charitable Trust, said that the trust was formed under the guidance of Ismail Shafi Babbukatte and appealed for the support of the public in achieving its objectives. He expressed confidence that the temple construction work would commence soon.
Among the dignitaries present were Chandrahas Poonja, president of Inoli Sri Somanatheshwara Durgaparameshwari Temple; Ravi Rai Pajir, member of the Executive Committee; Alvin D'Souza, State president of the All-India Christian Federation; and senior religious leader Srinivas Alva Manjanadi. They extended their best wishes for the trust's social and religious service activities and for the early completion of the proposed temple.
On the occasion, more than 25 deserving students from the surrounding areas were provided with free educational books by the dignitaries.
The programme began with a prayer by Ashika, Abhigna and Abhish. Ananya welcomed the gathering, trustee Pushpalatha compered the programme, and Rohini delivered the vote of thanks.
