Panaji, Jun 7: The Southwest Monsoon has now spread across the entire State of Goa, just a day after its official arrival on June 5, bringing widespread rainfall and prompting weather advisories across the region.

According to the latest bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon made further progress on June 6, extending into additional parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. It has also covered most areas of Tamil Nadu, several parts of the Bay of Bengal, and large sections of the Northeastern States.

In view of the active weather system, IMD has issued a yellow alert for Goa until June 10. The forecast indicates the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and periods of heavy rainfall across the State over the coming days.

Meteorologists have stated that atmospheric conditions remain favourable for the monsoon's continued advancement into more regions of the central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, and additional areas of the Bay of Bengal during the next two to three days.

Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea until June 9 due to rough sea conditions and strong winds associated with the strengthening monsoon activity.

Authorities have also urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly during thunderstorms and episodes of intense rainfall, and to follow safety advisories issued by local agencies.
