Beltangady, June 1: A lone wild elephant attacked and damaged a two-wheeler at Didupe in Malavantige village on Sunday, May 31 night. The rider narrowly escaped unhurt.

The incident occurred when Narayana Gowda, a resident of Nekkilottu in Didupe, was returning home on his scooter after attending a local programme. At around 8:45 pm near Nelyadka road, a wild elephant suddenly charged at his vehicle and completely damaged the scooter.

According to reports, due to the rain and pitch darkness, the elephant standing on the road was not clearly visible in the scooter's headlights. Narayana Gowda reportedly noticed the wild animal only when he came dangerously close to it.

In a state of shock and fear, he immediately abandoned his vehicle on the spot and ran for his life, miraculously escaping a fatal encounter.
