Kundapur, May 30: With only a few days left for the commencement of the new academic year and the monsoon season fast approaching, concerns are mounting over the poor condition of several schools in the Kundapur educational zone. While children are eagerly preparing to return to classrooms, repair works in many schools remain incomplete.
Although some schools have undergone repairs, several others still require urgent attention, including repairs to classrooms, school premises and building roofs.

Authorities are expected to ensure the structural stability and safety of school buildings before students return. Some government school buildings had already been identified as dilapidated during the previous academic year. Ideally, such classrooms should have been repaired during the one-and-a-half-month summer vacation period. However, in most schools, the necessary works have not yet been carried out.
The education department has already submitted a proposal to the taluk panchayat seeking approximately Rs 45 lac for repair works in various schools across the Kundapur zone. The proposed works include repairs to roofs, windows, doors, floors and other infrastructure. If the funds are released promptly, the required repairs can be completed before the reopening of schools.
The Kundapur educational zone has 119 primary schools and 20 government high schools. A total of 19 schools have submitted requests for various repair works.
Among them, urgent building and roof repairs are required at Moodu Haladi Government Lower Primary School and Mudoor Government Higher Primary School.
Repair requests have also been received from Hattikudru Higher Primary School, Chikkansal Higher Primary School, Yadadi-Mathyadi Higher Primary School, Rattadi Higher Primary School, Nadambur School, Hosa Badakere School, Soorgoli School, Kundapur Government Higher Primary School, Hardalli-Mandalli School, Goliyangadi Lower Primary School, Jaddinagadde Higher Primary School, Tarekodlu Lower Primary School, Chitteri Higher Primary School, Jambur Higher Primary School, Ulloor 74 Higher Primary School and Shankaranarayana Higher Primary School.
