27 cattle seized in Mangaluru during illegal transport to Kerala; two detained

Mangaluru, May 16: In a significant operation, police seized 27 cattle that were allegedly being transported illegally in a lorry from Haveri to Manappuram and detained two individuals in connection with the case.

The operation was carried out by the Kankanady Town police after receiving information from members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) regarding the suspected illegal transportation of cattle to Kerala.

Based on the tip-off, police intercepted the lorry at Jeppinamogaru and took the vehicle into custody. During the inspection, 27 cattle were found packed inside the lorry and were reportedly being transported without proper authorization.

The lorry has been seized, and two persons have been taken into police custody for questioning. A case has been registered at the Kankanady Town police station, and further investigation is underway.

The incident has drawn attention in the coastal city, with local groups demanding strict action against illegal cattle transportation.
