Karkala, May 3: A man was arrested by the Karkala town police for allegedly murdering his elder brother following a dispute over house and land ownership at Mittabettu, Hiriyangadi in Kasaba village of Karkala taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Richard D’Souza. According to the complaint filed by his wife, Jesintha D’Souza, the incident occurred on May 2 around 6 pm. Richard and his brother, Herald D’Souza, had an ongoing dispute regarding their residence and property. During an argument at their property in Mittabettu, the situation escalated into violence.

It is alleged that Herald D’Souza assaulted Richard with a wooden reaper, resulting in his death.
Based on the complaint lodged on May 3, the Karkala town police registered a case.
Under the guidance of DySP Vijayaprasad KSPS, a police team led by CPI Ajmath Ali (in-charge PI, Karkala town police station), along with PSI Prasanna MS, PSI Muralidhar Naik, PSI Shivakumar, and staff members including ASI Shekhar Naik, ASI Murthy, Ranjith, Srinivas, Mahanthesh, Gopalakrishna, Gajanayak, Shashi, and Santosh, successfully traced and arrested the accused.
The accused is currently in custody and will be produced before the court.
