Mangaluru, May 3: The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has forecast an increase in temperatures across Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in the coming days.

A rise in temperature is specifically predicted for the Kadaba and Puttur taluks of the district. In its monthly outlook, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously indicated that minimum temperatures in May would likely be above normal in several parts of the country, though some regions in northwest, central, and northeast India might see below-normal minimum temperatures.

Coastal regions have already been experiencing a surge in heat over the last few days. The weather pattern typically begins with cloudy skies in the morning, followed by intense humidity and rising temperatures as the day progresses. On Saturday, the heat was particularly intense across DK district.

In Mangaluru, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.8°C, which is 0.5°C below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 26.6°C, marking an increase of 1.3°C above the seasonal average. Despite the heatwave warning, the IMD has also forecast the possibility of rain in some parts of the district over the next two days.
